1. Introduction:
The plantation drive involved the planting of various native species, chosen for their
adaptability to the local climate and their ecological benefits. Participants, including
students, faculty, and local residents, were encouraged to adopt the planted saplings.
This adoption scheme is designed to ensure the long-term care and survival of the
plants, as each participant takes responsibility for the growth and maintenance of
their adopted sapling.
a. Site Selection:
Identified the suitable locations within the campus or community that need greening
or restoration.
Considered the factors such as soil quality, sunlight availability, and accessibility for
maintenance.
b. Species Selection:
Chosen the native plant species that are well-adapted to the local climate and soil
conditions.
Had a Consult with local horticulturists or environmental experts to select species
that contribute to biodiversity and ecosystem health.
c. Resource Allocation:
Arrange for necessary resources such as saplings, gardening tools, soil enhancers, and
water supply.
Seek sponsorship or collaboration with local nurseries, environmental NGOs, or
municipal bodies.
d. Volunteer Mobilization:
Organize an orientation session to brief volunteers & our team members on the
objectives and methodology of the plantation drive.
2. Implementation
a. Site Preparation:
b. Plantation Process:
Digged the holes appropriate to the size of the saplings, maintaining adequate
spacing between them.
Place the saplings in the holes, cover the roots with soil, and gently firm the soil
around the base.
Watered the plants immediately after planting to help them settle.
c. Adoption Scheme:
Our NSS unit has assigned each sapling to a group of volunteers (our team) who will
be responsible for its care.
Provide each volunteer with a plant adoption kit that includes watering cans,
fertilizers, and guidelines for plant care.
d. Regular Watering:
Established a watering schedule to ensure that the plants receive adequate moisture,
especially during the initial growth phase.
Our NSS unit has encouraged us to follow the schedule diligently and report any
issues promptly.
By following this methodology, the NSS unit aims to ensure the successful plantation
and adoption of plants, contributing to a greener and healthier environment for
future generations.
3. Case & Sector Study:
AICTE performs no activities that causes emissions in the environment. AICTE envision that
the engineers graduating from the affiliating institutions are made responsible citizens of
the world and are responsible towards environmental concerns.
AICTE promotes use of environment improvement measures Green energy i.e. solar
rooftops/ Power Systems Plastic Free Campus Rain Water Harvesting Waste Management
in all institutions through annual approval process.
AICTE implements a one student one tree initiative every year during the month of July and
August under which students are required to plant one tree during the event. Every student
takes care of the tree planted by themselves and builds the environment.
The Jal Shakti Abhiyan built in collaboration with Principal Scientific Advisor of India intends
to mobilize 30000 students to provide local solutions to rising issues of conservation of
water resources in selected districts based on the Bhuvan application developed by ISRO.
Clean and Smart Campus award aims to seek engagement with all stakeholders primarily
the student community to draw their attention towards immense scope and potential that
the Technology offers for abstract objectives such as cleanliness sustainability environment
etc.
Clean and Green Campus Awards AICTE had launched the “Clean Campus Award” in the
year 2017. In 2019 it is renamed the “CLEAN AND SMART CAMPUS AWARD 2019” to
recognise the efforts of the institutes and its stake holders for attaining the intended
objectives of cleanliness and smartness. The main objective of this award is not only to
bring attention of the students faculty and institutions towards the Swachh Bharat
Abhiyaan but also to realize them that how smartly they can reduce the consumption or
exploitation of natural resources such as paper water energy by deployment of digital
technology. Other aspects such as effective waste management sustainable transport air
pollution etc can also be achieved by ‘smart’ use of technologies.
11 institutions in 3 categories were selected for the Awards and 13 institutions were
selected for following Best Practices in their institutions for their cleanness and smartness.
Policy Objectives :
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’
campaign to commemorate the World Environment Day.
PM Modi planted a peepal tree sapling at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi. He was
accompanied by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Delhi’s
Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Land Restoration, Desertification and
Drought Resilience,” focusing on the urgent need to restore and conserve our land
resources
Field visit :
We visited our other campus, NIE North, for a tree plantation event organized by the
NSS unit of our college. During the visit, we participated in a group activity, marking
the completion of our NSS course activity. Our beloved principal and some faculty
members from each department joined us for this event.
1. Observation & Results :
High level of enthusiasm and active participation from students, faculty, and
the principal.
Collaborative spirit observed during the group activities.
✔ Planting Process:
2.Results :
Increased Green Cover:
Educational Benefits:
Practical knowledge about plant species, soil types, and sustainable practices
imparted to students.
Reinforced the importance of environmental stewardship as part of the NSS
curriculum.
Future Prospects:
Plans for regular maintenance and monitoring of the planted areas to ensure
healthy growth.
Potential for future plantation drives and other environmental initiatives
inspired by this successful event.
During 1st visit
