Two sides viz. Demand side and Supply side.
On Demand side - Buyer App (bap) manages customer interaction and buyer experience On Supply side - Seller App (bpp) manages supply- related interactions & experience Interaction between Buyer App and Seller App is enabled through ONDC Protocol built on beckn DOMAINS refer to product / services that are transacted. Eg. Food & Beverage, Fashion, Grocery, Ride hailing, credit, insurance, investments, and many others Traditional Models
Seller who own their inventory (typically brands) can
start selling directly by becoming a Seller App.
Sellers can also start selling by listing their products on
a Seller Marketplace App on ONDC network Note Many models are possible, based on specific use-cases. These models are flexible and can be mix matched as per the use cases. Choice remains with business on either Buyer Side or Seller Side Businesses are open to innovate and work out newer models Commercial structures can differ within and across models Not covering standalone services which can be offered over network MODELS based on choice of domain by Buyer App Buyer Apps can choose to join network for specific ONDC domains or can participate on all ONDC domains. MODELS based on choice of domain by Seller App Similarly, Seller Apps can choose to join network for specific ONDC domains or can participate on all ONDC domains Simplifying Integration Businesses can leverage Technology Service Providers (TSPs) to onboard and integrate on ONDC network faster. TSP help faster adoption.
TSPs can provide different types services:
TSP who offer only technology platform in SaaS or equivalent manner. Businesses are expected to run operations on their own. TSP manage end-to-end operations along with technology platform
Multiple models are possible here, and business on
both buyer app side and seller app side can adopt either types of TSPs MODELS based on TSP selected TSPs can be procured by either Buyer Apps or Seller Apps. List of TSP is available on ONDC website & portal. TSP can support all or partial functions such as TSP for customer grievance only. Business are free to choose Cascading & Nesting Open network like ONDC enable cascaded transactions. This means there can cascading of transactions on the network. Example - Logistics
Logistics related transaction can be procured by either
the Buyer App (bap) or Seller App (bpp) or even by Seller using logistics as a service.
Cascaded transactions can extend to purchase
financing, buying insurance and many other cases.
Multi-modal transactions where a user can book cab +
metro + flight + hotel booking + event tickets all using the same application in a cascaded or nested manner MODELS based on who procures logistics Buyer App purchases Logistics

Seller can also purchase logistics through a separate
standalone application since Logistics as a Service is available independently on the network MODELS based on how demand is generated Buyer apps can connect with introducer apps to help generate traffic for their application. One such model is pay-per-click (PPC) model, or its variation.
Similarly sellers or brands can generate demands to
drive traffic to a buyer app of their choice. One such mechanism is inter-operable QR codes or brand-driven advertisement or promotional campaigns. Many more models are possible... Be part of the network and INNOVATE
