Problems - Solutions

- Problem solution essays are a type of essay question sometimes given to you in the test. In
this type of essay you need to discuss the problems with regards to a particular topic and then
suggest possible solutions to these problems. One of the first things you want to make sure
that you are able to do is identify one of these questions when it arises. Here are some
examples of this type of question.
- Overpopulation of urban areas has led to numerous problems. Identify one or two
serious ones and suggest ways that governments and individuals can tackle these
problems.
- Nowadays many people have access to computers on a wide basis and a large
number of children play computer games. What are the negative impacts of
playing computer games and what can be done to minimize the bad effects?
- In the developed world, average life expectancy is increasing. What problems will
this cause for individuals and society? Suggest some measures that could be
taken to reduce the impact of ageing populations.

Structure

Body 1: 2 body đều có chung cấu trúc như nhau

- Point 1 + Supporting sentences

The medical effects are obvious. More specifically, addicts abuse their bodies and neglect their
health, and so eventually require expensive treatment or hospitalisation. In several cases, such as
Marilyn Monroe, a drug overdose even leads to her death.

- Point 2 + Supporting sentences

The second repercussion is a rise in crime rate. This can be explained by the fact that people who
take drugs become paranoid and irrational due to long term exposure to intoxication from these
harmful chemicals. As a consequence, they often cause harm and danger to themselves and their
surroundings.

The predicament regarding consumers discarding a high level of food which was purchased from stores and food
vendors has constituted one of many issues prevalent in today’s society. This essay will discuss possible causes and
suggest solutions to mitigate the problems.

There are two major reasons for this negative development. One possible catalyst is oversized meals. In fact,
restaurateurs often ask their kitchen staff to cook big portions or promote the sales of food combos so most diners
are unable to finish their dish, particularly children and women. Another cause is bulk purchase deals from grocery
stores. Many consumers are encouraged to buy more of the same items because of a discounted price. For
example, Costco often sells five packs of chips at a lower price and the unfinished food has to be thrown away if the
food reaches the expiry date.

Nonetheless, these problems can be effectively countered effectively by actions from lawmakers. The first solution
begins with education. The government needs to run public service campaigns to educate people about the need of
avoiding thoughtless shopping and ordering. A public awareness campaign is organised in many states of America to
list down any necessary groceries on paper note or mobile applications to avoid making unnecessary purchases.
Another solution involves the operation of law. Food retailers and food vendors should be legally required to cease
the promotion of bulk offers. As a result, these actions can help them to avoid impulsive shopping and by extension
food waste.

In conclusion, the disposal of a large level of foodstuffs may be caused by the sales of large meal portions in
restaurants and quantity discount. Where possible, consumer education about the risk of food waste and a ban on
bulk pricing can effectively tackle the problem. (294 words)

The internet has transformed the way information is shared and consumed, but it has also created

The advent of the Internet has revolutionized the acquisition and exchange of information between users. This essay
discusses the issues caused by exchanging information on the internet and suggests several measures to mitigate
the problems.

Perhaps, the two most concerning issues pertaining to the use of online platforms are cybercrime and cyber-
harassment. The first major problem is related to the rise in cyber criminals. Hackers often target users when they
provide their private information on different platforms. For example, when cyber criminals breached the security
system of Facebook in 2019, victims of the leak were spammed with irrelevant advertisements as their emails and
phone numbers were compromised. Additionally, the utilisation of the internet is often associated with cyber shaming.
This is because a high level of harmful and negative content can be shared anonymously to humiliate individuals
without any trace of a digital footprint, leading to targeted people being victimized with anxiety, fear and depression.

These problems can be tackled by law enforcement on a global and national scale concurrently. The first solution can
begin with collective effort from lawmakers around the world. Online crimes may occur on a global scale; thus,
governments should cooperate to track down and apprehend cybercriminals who operate across multiple borders.
This may reduce the number of identity thefts and deter any potential criminals from committing the same illegal
activities. Another possible measure is education. The government should run certain public promotion campaigns to
raise people’s awareness of the consequential impacts of online bullying on their well-being. This will likely bring a
reduction in the number of shaming cases.

In conclusion, the Internet has caused problems relating to information privacy and online shaming. Nonetheless, this
can be countered by more rigorous global and public education. (290 words)
