unusual, so you must assume the stance from which the code approaches the

The Pressure Piping exam assumes that an inspector may be completely

The American Petroleum Institute (API Standard 570) Inspection, Repair,
Alteration, and Rerating of Pressure Piping is intended to address concerns
that arise during in-service pressure piping inspection, assessment, and
repair. It was created to bridge the gap between design rules that solely deal
with structural difficulties based on pressure and loading and do not address
deterioration.

The American Society Of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) pressure piping


design code ASME B 31.3 is discussed and referenced in API 570. However, it
is clearly stated in 570 that the principles can be applied to pressure piping
designed in accordance with any code.
