The Sky Is The Limit - 2005
Ah, a noisette with a cookie to finish in beauty. I just had a steamed sole braid, with a vegetable julienne and vanilla-flavored fish stock. It melts away in your mouth. Delicious. The chef did a great job, also for the presentation. Getting my meal served on an eye-catching square plate, decorated with exotic seasonings and a delicate finishing with the sauce, was already a pleasure for the eye. An experience that is certainly worth sharing with others Thats what I like about Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. You can always enjoy yourself, whether you stay at home, sit outside on a terrace or go out with friends, like yesterday Even after a fulfilling week, opening the door of my apartment felt very satisfying. I dropped my keys on the table, put my bag on the floor and flipped through the post. Kicking of the shoes was, like usual, the start of the dolce farniente: switching on the music, putting on some comfy clothes and pouring myself a refreshing drink, before getting comfortable on the terrace. Heavenly. Just relaxing and enjoying the moment. While the late summer breeze blew gently through the apartment, I decided to get up and make some tomato-mozzarella pasta. Fresh and colorful, as I like it. Opening a nice bottle of vino made me dream away. This moment was so real, but so perfect. Actually, to perfect to stay at home all evening long. In Brussels, it would have been a perfect night to go to the African or the Latino quarter, enjoying the exotic rhythms and the warmth of the people. Maybe followed by a dive in one of the new designer bars for a cocktail of good music, a stylish interior and lots of party people. In Egypt, just being outside would have been heavenly. Sitting or lying down, following the habits of the locals who mix dancing with endless conversations, in the middle of rich and colorful decorations. Suddenly, my eyes started sparkling. Why choose one if I could have them all? On the table laid a stylishly designed invitation for Sky, the new lounge club of Monaco. Within the hour, my friends and I were ready to drive down. As soon as we got out of the car, each of us started to smile, ready for a night full of fun, excitement and relaxation. The glassed elevators that brought us to the first floor functioned as an energy increasing antechamber. As soon as the elegant doors slid open, I entered the world of the 1001 nights. A place where modern design interacts in a dynamic harmony with a timeless Arabic spirit. A cosmopolite Kasbah with an interior that lives. A place with a soul. Warm wood combined with modern materials. Structural elements that can be moved in accordance with the moment and the atmosphere. Soft light and dreamy oriental lamps. Pure lines and exotic touches present even in the smallest object or detail Once our cocktails and our bottle of champagne were ordered, we sat down in the appealing couches. Generous arms and back, soft fabric and comfortable pillows. Great. On top of the richness of the interior, the astonishing 360 view added a sense of freedom and liberty, a feeling of perfection. I felt like a pasha, a tsar, a prince When the ceiling suddenly got retracted, I was literally in heaven. That would become an end- and timeless night. Party and passion. Dancing on the vibrant music. Enjoying the drinks and the beautiful bottles, the peopleand the Oriental atmosphere. It got on its best, when we meandered through the flow of dancing people towards the top floor. A lounge level with the omnipresent 360 view and terrace tents. In a polychromic patchwork of textures and fabrics, the true Arabic spirit comes alive. People sit down with hookahs or oxygen tanks to relax. Chilling, chatting and dancing till the next morning. Allegria on its best Today, the sun and the blue sky are smiling at us. The night was late and great. Sky gave us the energy high of the best clubs, and created the passion and the exoticism of the Arabic world. We are definitely going back to the club. Now, we are sitting down, enjoying the view after a great lunch. Where? At the other supplier of feast for the senses, the one and only Sky Lounge restaurant
