1) Subject-Verb Agreement (SVA)
A verb must agree in ________________________
number with
its subject. Double check SVA in these 10 special cases:
1. The subject is separated from the verb by intervening
words, phrases, or clauses (p. 209)

e.g. Prepositional phrases / adjective clauses

2. Subjects and verbs are reversed. (p. 210)

3. You have collective nouns as the subject. (p. 210)

4. You have uncountable nouns that end in -s in spelling - They
should take singular verbs. (p. 210)

5. You words such as each, either, neither, one, everybody, and


everyone are used as subjects, they take singular verbs. (p.
211)

6. When words such as all, any, half, most, none, and some are
used as subjects, they can take either singular or plural verbs
depending on the context. (p. 211)
