Guidelines For Backlog Registration - INR
To facilitate the students to clear their F/M/G/FAIL grade courses in the Autumn Term, Session 2024-
25, the registration for backlog courses will start from 12th Aug 2024. The classes for courses registered
as backlog courses by the students shall be held along with the regular students in offline mode. The
interface for Backlog registration shall remain active till 19th Aug 2024.
1. UMS path to be followed for registration of backlog courses: UMS Navigation→ Examination
system→ Backlog Registration → Backlog Course Registration
2. Grade conversion will be applicable as per table 1 for those courses which have been offered in
this Term 2024-25.

3. Registration of M grade courses: Students receives a "M" grade in a course if they haven't
studied the same before or course could not mapped because of program changes, term or
year off, rejoining or migration. Students can register for these "M" grade courses through the
online backlog registration interface, subject to the availability of the courses.
4. Conditions applicable for backlog registration: Students can register for backlog courses
under the following conditions for courses registering with F/M/Fail grades:
a. Continuing students should have minimum 2.5 CGPA or equivalent percentage (in case
of marks-based programme). CGPA condition is not applicable for non-promoted and
passout students.
b. It is advised that you register backlog courses with clash free timetable. However,
registration with minimal clashes is permitted under following conditions:
a. Weekly contact hours with clashes should not exceed 10% of total weekly
regular contact hours and clash-free backlog contact hours taken together. AND
b. No Backlog course should have a 100% clash with regular/registered backlog
courses.
For Example:
Example 1: If a student has a weekly load of 30 hours and he/she registers one
course with 3 contract hours in backlog out of which 2 hours are clashing with
regular timetable then his % clash with regular and clash free backlog load taken
together is
Example 2: If a student has a weekly load of 30 hours and he/she registers one
course with 3 contract hours in backlog out of which all 3 hours are clashing with
regular timetable i.e 100% timetable of registered course is clashing. Then although
the total clash percentage is 10%, student still not be allowed according to 2nd
condition mentioned above.
6. Fee for backlog registration: The student Registration will be confirmed subject to payment of
the backlog fee. The backlog fee shall be payable online through the fee payment gateway.
a. For National Students including “Asia”: Backlog registration fee for a course shall be
1/10th of the student’s standard tuition fee (without scholarship) plus Rs.350/- as
examination fee and should be paid at time of registration through online mode only.
b. For International Students: Backlog registration fee for a course shall be 1/10th of the
student’s standard tuition fee (without scholarship) and USD 7 as examination fee
and should be paid within 48 hours through University Website as per

c. For scholarship holders or students for whom the fee has been waived off (fully or partly) by
the University, the backlog fee will be 1/10th of the standard tuition fee plus examination fee
and not the fee after scholarship or waiver.
d. Once a student has paid the backlog courses fee, courses cannot be de-registered.
7. Timetable and Attendance Marking:
a. Attendance in backlog courses (excluding courses registered with G grade) will be included
in the aggregate attendance of the student for the purpose of determining his/her eligibility
for appearing in the ETE and for calculating the detention list.
b. Timetable and Attendance will be applicable/counted from very next day of your registration
confirmation i.e. after confirmation of your fee payment. Students are advised to attend
classes as per the timetable visible on the UMS.
c. Students should verify the backlog registered courses using the tab “View Receipt” button
available on backlog registration interface (Refer step by step instructions for details).
8. Equivalency of Courses: Students are required to ensure that the equivalent course allotted
and/or offered to them have not been previously studied by them. If equivalence course has
already been studied by them, then they are required to report the same immediately through
RMS using the link shared in the end of this notification. Also, for equivalent courses, the
credits of the new course will be applicable.
Note:
1. Ensure clash free registration as no change in timetable shall be permissible later on.
2. If you're interested in enrolling in a course that is currently unavailable, please be informed that
you can submit your course preferences. Use "Not offered courses" button accessible on the
backlog registration interface for your convenience. Submitted preference shall be considered
subject to student strength and/or equivalent course availability.
3. In case you are unable to register any course due to timetable clash or section strength of that
course is full and wish to register the course in this backlog term then you may submit such
request while selecting the backlog courses by selecting valid reason from the dropdown list.
4. Step by Step guide for using the interface for backlog registration is attached along with these
guidelines.
5. In case a student wants to register for any extra or additional courses already running in this term,
they may submit their request by visiting window 5 in room 32-102.
