those quoted.
In the areas where the contaminants cannot be removed, complete removal and replacement of the contaminated concrete is
typically considered.
Concrete defects such as voids, bug holes, excess porosity, and physical and chemical damage are usually filled or repaired prior
to the installation of the system. (Materials such as slurries, mortars, and polymer concrete are used to level, smooth and patch
concrete surfaces).
The laitance (A thin, weak, brittle layer of cement and aggregate on concrete surface) on in-situ bases and any surface sealer or
curing membrane should be entirely removed by suitable mechanized equipment, e.g. shot-blasting, panning or grinding, to expose
cleanly the coarse aggregate.
Old Concrete surfaces: All surface contamination, e.g. oil, paint and rubber, should be removed and adequate mechanical
preparation carried out to achieve a sound and stable surface with exposed coarse aggregate. (Existing floor paints should be
removed by mechanical abrasion or contained shot blasting. When clear of all surface contamination, the concrete should be
prepared mechanically to remove all laitance and expose a fresh surface).
After surface preparation all loose debris and dirt should be removed by vacuum- equipment.
Note - Acid etching of the concrete is not recommended as a preparation technique partly because of the implications for Health &
Safety but also because the concrete surface is left saturated with water and calcareous salts which may ultimately lead to
debonding or osmotic blistering
Priming
All surfaces treated with 761SLS may be primed with Either 755 /756 Primers, designed for maximum absorption and adhesion to
concrete substrates. However 761 Stanfloor SL Screed can also be applied without primer direct to the prepared sound concrete
substrate.
Add the entire contents of the hardener tin to the base tin and mix the two primer components thoroughly for at least 2 minutes -
under no circumstances should part mixing be considered. /Else contents should be carefully weighed & then mixed.
Once mixed, the primer should be applied immediately to the prepared substrate using stiff brushes and/or rollers. The primer
should be well ‘scrubbed’ into the substrate to ensure full coverage, but care should be taken to avoid over application or ‘ponding’.
Allow the primer to dry (see table below) before proceeding to the next stage, do not proceed whilst the primer is ‘tacky’ as this will
lead to unsightly marks in the finished surface.
Porous substrates may require a second primer coat - when the first coat is directly absorbed into the substrate - but minimum
over-coating times must still be observed (see table below).
The over-coating times will vary slightly according to the porosity of the substrate. However, they should be in accordance with the
following ambient application temperatures:
20°C : 6-24 hours
30°C : 3-16 hours
40°C : 2-10 hours
Mixing Instructions
761SLS flooring is supplied in 3 pre-weighed packs (Base, Hardener and aggregate) which are ready for immediate on-site use.
Part mixing of these components is not acceptable (Unless components are carefully weighed & mixed) and will affect both
performance and appearance of the finished floor.
Mixing should be carried out using a heavy duty, slow-speed drill fitted with mixing paddle. The components should be mixed in a
suitable size mixing vessel.
Add Hardener to base and mix for 30 seconds. Thereafter, the contents of the graded aggregate pack should be slowly added and
mixing carried out for a further 3 minutes until a completely homogeneous material is obtained.
Application
Ensure that there are labour and materials to make the mixing and subsequent application process a continuous one for any given,
independent floor area.
Once mixed, the material must be used within its specified pot life.
The material should be poured onto the prepared and primed substrate as soon as mixing is complete. It should be spread to the
required thickness using a serrated trowel; with care taken not to overwork the resin, spreading evenly and slowly.
The laid material should be rolled with a spike roller to ensure compactness and de-aeration of the film. The rolling should be
carried out using a ‘back and forth’ technique along the same path. An overlap of 50% with adjacent paths is recommended.
Further light rolling may be required to remove surface imperfections, or for subsequent release of trapped air. This should be done
prior to the setting of the product.
While application, the substrate temperature should be at least 3 oC above dew point but not above 50 oC.
Floor Joints
All existing expansion or movement joints should be brought up through the coating and to be filled up with flexible joining
compound.
Cleaning
All tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately with recommended thinner.
Maintenance
It is important that good housekeeping standards are established and maintained appropriate for the type of resin flooring.
Generally a mechanical scrubber with wet vacuum is the most suitable. Washing with mop and bucket is not recommended.
Where hygiene levels are required to be high, eg in food preparation areas, a bactericide solution should be used, and pressure
washing at a temperature of 60-80 °C is advisable. However, steam cleaning may be required in order to meet with the individual
client's requirements.
In the event of the spillage of corrosive chemicals, the surface should be cleaned as soon as possible. If this is not done repairs to
the floor may be needed to prevent the damage spreading.
Any mechanical damage to the floor surface should also be repaired at the earliest opportunity to prevent liquids penetrating to the
bond line and causing lateral failure.
Limitations
761SLS should not be applied on to surfaces known to, or likely to suffer from, rising dampness, potential osmosis problems or
have a relative humidity greater than 75% as measured in accordance with Protimeter Thermohygrometer.
761 SLS should not be applied to asphalt, weak or friable concrete, unmodified sand/cement screeds, PVC tiles or sheet or
substrates known to move substantially e.g. steel walkways.
761SLS should not be installed at temperatures below 10oC or above 50oC.
In common with all epoxy materials some light shade changes may be experienced over the long term when placed in adverse
exposure conditions. Any such change in shade is not regarded as being detrimental to performance.
Shelf life
761 Stanfloor SLS has a shelf life of 12 months if kept in warehouse conditions at 30°C in the original, unopened pack.
Storage Conditions
Store in dry conditions between 5oC and 30oC, away from sources of heat and naked flames, in the original, unopened packs. If
stored at high temperatures the shelf life will be reduced.
Packing
761 Stanfloor SLS: 33 Kg,15 Kg pack
Safety Information
761SLS, Primer and cleaning solvent should not come in contact with the skin and eyes, or be swallowed.
Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of vapours. Some people are sensitive to resins, hardeners and solvents.
Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye protection.
In case of contact with skin, rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and water. Do not use solvent. In case of
contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. If swallowed seek medical attention
immediately -do not induce vomiting.
Fire
Primer and cleaning solvent are flammable. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. In the event of fire extinguish with
CO2 or foam. Do not use a water jet.
Disposal
Spillages of component products should be absorbed on to earth, sand or other inert material and transferred to a suitable vessel.
Disposal of such spillages or empty packaging should be in accordance with local waste disposal regulations.
