Introduction to the concept of city area/ urban area. Identification of specific functional area
of cities within the zone of influence. Students are required to prepare an integrated urban
development plan for the identified city incorporating components of phasing costing &
pricing implementation mechanism etc. Periodic assessment in the form of reviews will be
carried out with a final jury at the end of the exercise.

1. Integrated plan for urban area, including 2 weeks field survey.


2. Theories and principles of urban development plan and preparation for survey and data
collection.
3. Field survey of the study area.
4. Analysis of data and information
5. Planning for urban area (structure plan / Development plan) with emphasis on:
 Land use and transportation network
 Infrastructure plan
 Action area programs and urban renewal plan
 Capital budget and financing
 Administrative and management backup for implementation

Term work and Examination:


The final submission should include a concept plan, demography, economy and land use
plan, sub-division plan, circulation plan, basic infrastructure plan, environment Plan and a
written report (A-4 paper) including all drawings (A -1/ A-2 paper).
