TOPIC: Forms of Communication

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:


a. Identify the different forms of communication.
b. Demonstrate sensitivity toward others in various communication situations.
c. Give situations that show examples of the forms of communication.

III. PROCEDURE

A. Diagnostic
The teacher will ask the student’s ideas regarding in forms of communication.
Day 1:
ACTIVITY

The teacher asks the students about what’s happening around us about the Covid-19 pandemic? Using the set
of words, they will construct sensible sentence and use not less than four words.
Example: The government asks the people to wear face masks and observe proper hygiene to be safe from
Corona virus disease

ANALYSIS
1. The teacher will ask the students if they were able to send their thoughts clearly to your classmates. What
should one consider in communicating his/her thoughts to be understood?
2. What lesson did this pandemic crisis bring to you?
What profitable things did you do during this crisis?
3. The students will answer these questions given by the teacher.

ABSTRACTION
Concept Notes 1: Major Forms of Communication

INTRAPERSONAL COMMUNICATION - is communication that occurs in your own mind. It is


the basis of your feelings, and beliefs.
Examples are when you make any kind of decision – what to eat or wear. When you think about
something – what you want to do on the weekend or when you think about another person.

INTER-PERSONAL COMMUNICATION – Communication between two or more people.


Examples are when you are talking to your friends. A teacher and student discussing an assignment.

a. Dyad – between two people


b. Small group – between three or more people
- is communication within formal or informal groups or teams. It is group interaction that results in
decision making, problem solving and discussion within an organization.
Examples would be a group planning a surprise birthday party for someone. A team working together
on a project.

ONE-TO-GROUP/PUBLIC COMMUNICATION - involves a speaker who seeks to


inform or motivate an audience.
Example is a teacher and a class of students.

MASS COMMUNICATION - basically has a large number of audience and they cannot be
grouped together in one place, so there is a need for certain tools or technology for
communication process. There is the use of media like newspaper, radio, television, and
internet.

We use communication every day in nearly every environment, including in the workplace.
Whether you give a slight head nod in agreement or present information to a large group,
communication is absolutely necessary when building relationships, sharing ideas, delegating
responsibilities, managing a team and much more.

APPLICATION
Day 1: Written Task
Activity 1 – Directions: Identify the forms of communication used in the following situations. Write
intrapersonal, interpersonal, dyad, small group, public, or mass communication.

1. The President’s briefing with regard the guidelines on quarantine aired on TV. Mass Communication
2. The online press briefing of the spokesperson of the president on a nationwide TV. Mass
Communication
3. Ms. Alyssa conferring to her lawyer about the family’s property – Dyad
4. The CEO of the company calls for an emergency meeting – Small group
5. Ayesha thinking about how her past experiences could have been different –Intrapersonal
6. Class discussion on physical health – Small group
7. The city mayor announcing to the people about the planned lockdown – Public
8. Guidelines posted on billboards in the observance of healthy protocols to avoid
contracting the Covid virus – Mass Communication
