MINUTES OF SENIOR YOUTH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 9TH JUNE 2024 AT STAR OF THE SEA YOUTH

OFFICE FROM 3:30PM

MIN 1/06:PRELIMINARY

The meeting started with a word of prayer from Fred Maraga.The Vice chairperson later on welcomed all
to the meeting .

MIN 2/06:READING OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

Minutes of the previous meeting(Joint palm Sunday Evaluation meeting)were read by the secretary .They
were confirmed by Henry Obuya seconded by Fred Maraga .

MIN 3/06:MATTERS ARISING


It was noted that from the previous minutes, a report from the finance committee and upon members
deliberation ,Senior youths were to give sh2500 used for the launching of the constitution to offset the
Lunch deficit owed to the Pastoral Centre.

Members discussed the matter and agreed that each Council member should contribute sh100 by 15th
June as the matter was very urgent.

MIN4/06:DIOCESE YOUTH HARAMBEE

The Vice-Chair informed members that Harambee was slated to be on 27th July 2024, thus we were out
of time and needed to start preparing for the same. She took members through the proposed budget
prepared by the finance committee as follows.She elaborated in details very matter as was written in the
budget

Members asked matters pertaining the budget and the committee gave their responses. Members were
satisfied with the report and agreed it be adopted. The budget will be used from July 2024 to July 2025.

The Annual fundraiser 2024 had a target of sh350,000 which members discussed possible ways of
raising. It was later on agreed that it be raised as follows;

Each Parish to Contribute sh5,000.


Chaplains to raise a target of sh50,000
Patrons and Matrons to raise a total of sh50,000
A target of sh50,000 from invited Guests.
Members were asked to co-operate towards the course to ensure we achieve our target.Each parish is to
invite five guests to the Harambee, the names of guests identified by the parishes is to be foarded to the
youh office for official communication.

MIN5/06: COMMITTEES

Since the Harambee was an event it needed committees to ensure its success. Members raised concerns
of such committees formed before where persons leave tasks to ne person hence rendering the purpose
of committee not to the intent of inclusion to easen wok. It was agreed that one committee be formed
to handle the matter of Harambee and the members their were to be delegated tasks.The members
present in the meeting were to all form part of the committee .

The following persons were to be in charge of the following roles; Michael Otieno &Diocese organizing
sec were to be in charge of organsing committee, Sydney John and Teresa Mutsotso in charge Liturgy
while Mary Mwelu,Ivy Ndimu and Michael Otieno in charge of Finance.

It was agreed that North Deanery were to lead us in singing in the harambee.

MIN6/06:ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION AND PARISH SUBSCRIPTION

It was noted that there was laxity in membership registration and parish subscription since the year
started. Bomu,Timbwani,Mtomodoni and Aldin had registered their members while Shanzu,Aldina and
Voi parish had subscribed for the parish. Chair communicated that deadline for the activity was 15th June
and hence leaders were requested to kindly co-operate. Members urged the Executive to always show
good example when it comes to such matters. Members present in the meeting agreed to comply an
submit their dues before end week.

MIN 7/06:NATIONAL YOUTH CONVENTION AND NATIONAL PRAYER DAY

The chair informed members of the national youth convention to e held in Nairobi Metropolitan where
we are supposed to take part, However members suggested that the matter be communicated in the
next meeting as they could not know what exactly the activity is all about.

Members also discussed the national prayer day where we as a Metropolitan are animating this year.
Members agreed that we go as a diocese to the event. It was agreed that the matter be discussed in our
next meeting including its budget making..

MIN 8/06:A.O.B

➢ Members were requested to unite and work as one.


➢ Members were informed that executive meeting was held on 2nd June and deliberatins from
the meeting were to be communicated to the council during the next meeting.

MIN9/06: ADJOURNMENT

The meeting was closed by a word of prayer from Br.Geofrey Nyambane at 5:30pm.Next meeting is to be
held on 7th July 2024.
