Mexico does not own, possess, or control nuclear weapons, has never done so, and does not
host any other state’s nuclear weapons on its territory. Mexico advocates for nuclear
disarmament, having signed and ratified the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
The country has renounced the development of nuclear weapons and is committed to using
nuclear technology only for peaceful purposes. Mexico signed the Treaty on the Prohibition
of Nuclear Weapons on September 20, 2017, and ratified it on January 16, 2018.
