Answer the following questions:

1. The mass of a lead piece is 120g. When it is immersed into a measuring cylinder , the water level
rises from 15mL mark to 30mL mark.
Find :
i. The volume of a lead piece .
ii. The density of a lead piece in Kg/m3
2. An astronaut of mass 75 kg has gone from earth to a distant planet where 1kg of mass feels 20 N
of gravitational force. Then find : (i) Mass, (ii) weight of the astronaut in that planet.
3. A truck goes from Haryana to Bangalore with an average speed of 60 km/hr. The journey takes 30
hours. It returns from Bangalore to Haryana on the same road with an average speed of 40 km/hr.
What was the average speed of the truck during the roundtrip?
4. A speeding car traveling at 40 km/hr decides to slow down to 30 km/hr after covering half the
distance. What is the average speed?
5. A car is moving with a initial velocity of 10 m/s. If the car has acceleration of 10m/s² , find the
velocity after 5 seconds.
6. Cyclist travels 1 km in 5 min, another 1 km in 10mins & last 1 km in 15 mins then find its average
speed.
7. A person is walking in a circular park of radius 100 m. If the person took 1 hr to complete the first
lap and another 1 hr and half min for the second lap then what is the average speed of the person.?
8. Identify the types of motion in these following examples:
(i) Planets are revolving around star,
(ii) Aeroplane
(iii) Bullock cart
(iv) Lift
(v) Pendulum clock.

Examples
1) A car is moving with a initial velocity of 5m/s. If the car has acceleration of 10m/s² , find the
velocity after 5 seconds.
Ans) acceleration = change in velocity/time
Final velocity is x m/s. So change in velocity 5m/s
Change in velocity = (x – 5)m/s
So , 10 = (x-5)/5
Or 10× 5 = x – 5
Or 50 = x – 5
Or 50+5 = x
Or 55 = x
Or x = 55 m/s
Final velocity = 55m/s [Note: velocity = speed]

2) The mass of a lead piece is 50g. When it is immersed into a measuring cylinder , the water level rises
from 5mL mark to 10mL mark.
Find :
iii. The volume of a lead piece .
iv. The density of a lead piece in Kg/m3
Ans) i) Volume of lead piece = rise in water level
= (10-5)ml
= 5ml
ii) Density of lead piece = Mass / Volume = 50/5 = 10g/ml= 10×1000 kg/m³ = 10000kg/m³
