Grade Level Standard: The learner demonstrates communicative competence through his/
her understanding of Philippine Literature and other texts types for a deeper appreciation of
Philippine Culture.

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of: pre-colonial Philippine


literature as a means of connecting to the past; various reading styles; ways of determining
word meaning; the sounds of English and the prosodic features of speech; and correct
subject-verb agreement.

Performance Standard: The learner transfers learning by: showing appreciation for the
literature of the past; comprehending texts using appropriate reading styles; participating in
conversations using appropriate context-dependent expressions; producing English sounds
correctly and using the prosodic features of speech effectively in various situations; and
observing correct subject-verb agreement.

Elements of a Narrative Text.

First, Let’s discuss the


Character. Everybody please
read the definition of Character. (Students will read the
definition)

Character is the main people


that are involved in your story.

(The people or animals who are


important to the story.)

Two types of Character


1.Protagonist is the main
character in the story.
2.Antagonist is the bad guy in
the story.

Setting tells the time and place


of the story.

(Different scenes in the story


take place)

Conflict is a literary device


characterized by a struggle
between two opposing forces.

(It is all about the problem or


challenge in the story.)

Plot tells the events that


happen in a story.

As you can see in the picture,


plot has different parts which is
exposition, rising action, climax,
falling action and resolution.

(It includes the problem and a


solution.)

Theme tells us about the main


idea of the story.

(It is the message which is the


writer wants to convey to the
readers.)
