1. The contest is open to Grade 3 to 6 leaners enrolled in any public or private

elementary schools within the division.
2. There shall only be one participant per school/district.
3. The contest shall be conducted into three (3) rounds: Easy, Average and Difficult.
4. The coverage of the quiz shall be the lessons from Grade 3 to Grade 6 Science.
5. Each question will have corresponding point. Each correct answer for the Easy
Round shall be equivalent to 1 point; 2 points for the Average Round and 3 points
for the Difficult Round.
6. The Quiz Master shall only read each question twice before the participants. The
participants may start answering upon the “Go” signal of the quiz master.
However, time limit shall be given in answering the questions; 10 seconds for the
Easy Round, 20 seconds for the Average Round and 40 seconds for the Difficult
Round.
7. The participants are required to raise their writing hand as the Quiz Master signals
“Time is Up”. No answer shall be accepted from participants who refuse their
right hand and continue answering after the time given.
8. Each participant shall bring their own 4 inches x 12 inches illustration board with
their own chalk and eraser.
9. Answers must be printed legibly on the black part of illustration board.
10. The answers may require letters only, true or false and/or words and phrases
depending on what is required by the quiz master. It is emphasized that we
implement the “wrong spelling wrong” rule so participants are expected to write
their answer legibly.
11. At the end of each round, the cumulative score of each contestant will be
computed and announce by the tabulator.
12. At the end of the contest, the top 5 participants with the highest cumulative scores
shall be declared as First Place, Second Place, Third Place, Fourth Place and Fifth
Place respectively
13. The winners shall receive certificate of recognition otherwise certificate of
participation shall be awarded.
14. In case of tied scores among the top 5, the participants with the same scores shall
enter a tie-break round. Questions shall be asked and whoever gets first the correct
answer shall be declared as the winner. In case that the participants involve get the
correct answer, questions shall continuously be given until only one remains.
15. Any student/group caught in any act of cheating, or any form of dishonesty shall
automatically be disqualified.
16. The decision of the board of judges shall be final and irrevocable.
MECHANICS FOR THE SCI-DAMA WATER AND POWER PATROL
1. The contest is open to all Grade 3 to 6 leaners enrolled in any public or private
elementary schools within the division.
2. There shall be 2 categories for Sci-Dama Elementary Level:
Grade 3&4 -Water Patrol
Grade 5&6 -Power Patrol
3. There shall only be one player per school/district per category.
4. The players shall bring their own chips and sci-dama board and calculator is not allowed.
5. The players shall start the starting position of their chips.
6. After the chips were set, the arbiter shall determine the first player through a toss coin.
7. A chip is only allowed to move diagonally forward when it moves without skipping any
square. However, it can also move diagonally backward only when it “takes”. Only, chips
that named “DAMA” can skip squares when moves and takes, and able to move
backward or forward diagonally even without taking.
8. The players shall move alternately; thus “pass” is not allowed.
9. A chip may take more than one chip at a time. However, it is emphasized the Dama Rule,
“Mayor Dalawa over Isa or Mayor Tatlo over Dalawa.” This means that a player must
take the move with more chips to take than with fewer chips.
10. The Mathematical Operation where the taking chip lands shall be used in the computing
the scores. Example, if a 100-chip takes a 50-chip that lands on a multiplication symbol
(x), the score shall be 500. There shall be individual computation for chips with multiple
takes, Mayor Dalawa or Tatlo. Here, the taking chip shall always be the addend, minuend,
multiplicand and dividend. However, “takes” that either results in negative and or
decimal scores shall be tagged as “NS” or No Scores.
11. Similarly, scores gained by chips that are “DAMA” shall always be multiplied by two.
Also, even when an ordinary chip that takes a “DAMA” chips, the resulting score shall
also be multiplied by two. And when a “DAMA” chip takes another “DAMA” chip, the
resulting score shall be multiplied by four.
12. The chip shall only be declared as “DAMA” when it reaches and stays on the coordinates;
(0,7), (2,7), (4,7), (6,7) and (1,0), (3,0), (5,0), (7,0). A chip shall stay in any of these
coordinates for one sequence in order to be “DAMA.” Chips that pass through these
coordinates by just eating other chips are not “DAMA.”
13. Only one scoresheet shall be utilized in every game. The players shall accomplish the
scoresheet alternately. The position of the chip shall be the coordinate between the x and
y axis. In case of incorrect entries from the opposing player, the attention of the arbiter
shall be called immediately. The arbiter shall stop the time of the game and evaluate the
error. The error must be corrected before the game continues. At least 3 deliberate errors
in scoring and any disrespectful act to distract the opponent may be a ground for
disqualification.
14. The scoring shall follow the continuous scoring technique where the score from the
previous move shall be added to the score of the current move until the game is finished.
It is expected that the end score of the players shall be their cumulative scores.
15. Each participant shall be given one minute per move including the writing of moves and
scores into the scoresheet. Refusal to move within a minute shall be a ground for
disqualification regardless of the current scores.
16. The game may be also halted anytime when the players resign, no other possible move or
when the chip is cornered, one of the players has no more chips, and both the players
commits repetitive moves. When the player resigns or leaves the game, the opponent shall
be declared as the winner. When there were no possible moves or both the players
commits repetitive moves, the scores shall be computed to determine the winner.
17. Only 20 minutes is allotted per game. After 20 minutes, the game shall be put into halt by
the arbiter and the remaining chips of each player shall be added to their own current
scores. The player with the lower score shall be declared the winner.
18. Winning players shall gain 1-point in the overall tally sheet while losing players shall
have zero. In case of tied scores, both players shall gain 0.5 scores each. The player with
the highest score in the overall tally sheet shall be the winner of the tournament.
19. It is hereby emphasized that the decision of the arbiter shall be final and irrevocable.
20. The following are the chips and board to be utilized at each level:
