Detailed Guidelines for Project on


Three things you like about Singapore’s Education System
INTRODUCTION:
The project is on ‘Three things you like about Singapore’s education system’ is a
pair activity which constitutes 15% of the overall grades of students.

OBJECTIVES:
• To create an awareness about Singapore’s education system
• To appreciate positive aspects of Singapore’s education system
• To communicate effectively in both oral and written forms

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students should be able to:


• collect information about various aspects related to the given topic.
• highlight the importance of having a good and effective education system.

• identify the opportunities they get through learning according to their different
abilities.
• explain how an effective education system plays an important role in students’
holistic development.
• design a creative presentation to showcase the positive aspects of Singapore’s
education system.
• organise the collected information in creative ways - e.g. mind map, pictorial
presentation, graphs.
• demonstrate creative thinking and focus on their language proficiency while
presenting the project.
• acquire the skills to communicate their ideas effectively and persuasively in
both written and oral forms.
• acquire collaborative skills through working in pairs to achieve common goals.
• present the project with confidence within the allotted time frame.
• answer questions posed by their classmates and teacher.

GUIDELINES FOR THE WEIGHTED ASSESSMENT TERM 2:

(1) TYPE OF PROJECT: Pair Activity

❖ Students are to be divided into pairs depending on the number of students in


each class.

❖ In each pair, the teacher will assign the tasks to the students. Both students
must work together with equal zest to acquire information for the completion of
the project.

(2) WRITTEN SUBMISSION:

❖ The information will be consolidated in the form of a scrapbook where they


would put all the collected information in a well organised manner.

❖ Students are to work on the scrapbook in pairs and prepare one scrapbook per
pair.

❖ The project is to be a well-integrated document with the inclusion of relevant


information and pictures.

❖ Students may gather information by using their 21st century multi-media skills.
The students must collect all the relevant information about the project from
authentic sources. They may gather the information from newspaper articles,
magazines, internet, etc.

❖ Student should be focused on content and language. The information


gathered & any pictorial / graphics should be well presented in the file.

❖ Scrapbook should be in handwritten or typewritten form in HINDI. If students


choose to submit a typewritten document, they are advised to use Google Font
or the most used font in their respective languages.
❖ If the students choose to submit a typewritten document, they are advised to

❖ Students can interview/survey people around them and submit the findings of
the survey in the form of a graph or pie chart.
❖ Students must check their final document for clarity and correct any error in
spelling, grammar, sentence structure or any other linguistic component.

❖ Students need to gather the information and prepare the first draft. They will
submit it to the teacher for feedback and incorporate the suggestions received.

THE SCRAP BOOK/ /PROJECT FILE SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:


(A) Cover Sheet: The Scrapbook/Project file must have a Cover Sheet containing
following pertinent information:

➢ Topic
➢ Full name & NRIC of both the students
➢ Mother tongue language – Hindi
➢ ISPP/Weekend school name
➢ Teacher’s name

(B) Index / Content Page: First page of the scrapbook will display headings, page
numbers and information about the aspect/components on which each student has
worked.

(C) Introduction: On the second page of the scrapbook, the student is to write a
brief introduction about the topic of the project & some general information about
Singapore’s education system.

(D) Content: The scrapbook & Power Point slides should include the following:
❖ Various aspects of Singapore’s education system.
❖ The following is a list students may choose from, or they may choose to write
on their own relevant topic of interest.
• Project-based learning
• Technology for teaching and learning and less dependency on books
• Blended Learning
• Hands-on activities
• Opportunity to learn one’s mother tongue.
• Co-curricular activities
• Differentiated learning program.
• Development of artistic & sporting talents
❖ Explain in detail their reasons for selecting these three aspects and how each
aspect helps students in their learning journey.
❖ State the importance of having a good and effective education system and how
it will encourage the students of various learning abilities to achieve their goals.
(This is just a guideline. Students can write on any other relevant point)

(E) Reflection:
Students should consider the following points:
➢ How this project helped students to learn about Singapore’s education system
and explore various aspects of it?
➢ How has this project enabled the students to discover their learning journey?

(F) Bibliography/Citation: Share the links of the website from which the information
has been taken by the student for the project research.

(3) VERBAL PRESENTATION

❖ Each pair will be given about 5 to 6 minutes time for presentation.


❖ Each student will be given about 2 to 3 minutes to present his/her part of the
presentation.
❖ Each student must mention his/her name, NRIC No. and name of the centre/school
at the start of his / her presentation.
❖ There will be dry run before the final Verbal Presentation.
❖ The teacher / classmates will ask 1 or 2 questions when the student comes to an
end of his/her presentation.
❖ If the students have prepared Power Point slides for their verbal presentation it is
recommended to print it and add to their scrapbook/project file.

(4) TIMELINE FOR THE PROJECT:
