The Time Period When the Story was
Written
How I Met My Husband was published in 1974, during the
contemporary literature period. Literature that was written in
the latter period was shaped in many ways to depict the
transition from monolithic to modern globalized perspective .
In the book, Munro shows the reality of modernism and the
stream of what might happen if people continue advancing
in the future. Alice Munro decided to write the short story
adapting from a play at the Blyth Festival, which was part of
a 1988 film by Ruth, Martha, and Edie narrative by Cynthia
Flood and Betty Lambert (Kumar 648). Thus, Munro would
answer inquiries on marriage fates, relationship struggles,
and desires people experience hence giving possible
insights on what people’s fate may look like.
