Setting up your new CIBC accounts


Once you have arrived in Canada, please visit your assigned CIBC Banking Centre outlined in your
Welcome Letter to activate your account.

We will then deposit $2,014.71 CAD into your new CIBC SmartTM Account for Students which can be
accesed within 1-2 business days. This account qualifies you for no monthly fee, unlimited
transactions* and free unlimited Interac e-Transfers®. The remaining balance will remain invested in
GICs with 11 equal payments paid out to you over a one year period. We have included an outline of
the 11 disbursement payments in the Appendix.

(registered and non-registered) are free. Other fees (in addition to any transaction fee) include:
withdrawals from non-CIBC bank machines, Interac e-Transfer transactions (the Interac e-Transfer fee
is waived for CIBC SmartTM Accounts) and transactions in foreign currency (including cheques
written in currencies other than the account currency).
