NOTES
• Head and body of the chicks are worked in one piece. Beginning at the top of the head, working
down of the body.
• The wings and beak are made separately and later attached to the body.

• Work in continuous rounds without joining the round with a slip stitch. Do not turn at the end of
each round.

• Use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning of each round.

• I recommend using an invisible decrease to avoid the gap in the stitches.

• Firmly stuff as you work and overstuff slightly. This will allow for the stuffing to fill out the shape
after the crocheting is done.

WINGS ( M A K E 2)
Wings are worked in rows. Ch 1 at the beginning of the row doesn’t count as a stitch.

Row 1: ch 2, work 3 sc in 2nd ch from the hook. Ch 1 and turn [3]

Row 2: inc in each st across. Ch1 and turn [6]

4 of 5 LOVE N' STITCH

Row 3: (sc, inc) x 3. Ch 1 and turn [9]
Row 4: (2 sc, inc) x 3. [12]

Do not turn around after row 4. Work 8 sc evenly on the other side of the wing. F/O leaving a long tail for
sewing. The finished wing shape is similar to a half circle.

BEAK
Using a contrast color yarn, begin with an MR.

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]
Round 2: (2 sc, inc) x 3 [9]
Round 3: sc in each st around [9]

Sl st into the next stitch and F/O leaving a tail for sewing. Do not stuff the beak.

FINISHING
1. Position the wings on the sides of the body using eyes as a center point. Make sure the curved
edge of the wing faces the front of the body. The wings are attached to the body from the top
only, leaving the bottom portion open, so they can flap.
2. Place the beak between the eyes on rounds 10 to 12. Sew it neatly.
