BASIC COURSE OUTLINE

Subject : Basic English Grammar


Program : English Education
Semester :1
Credit : 2/GBG132
Status : Cumpulsory

A. Aims
1. Students are expected to acquire a good understanding of basic English grammar,
2. Students are expected to acquire skills in constructing correct English sentences,
3. Students are expected to acquire an ability in identifying errors in sentences and correct
them.

B. Course Description
This course deals with basic English grammar that emphasizes on “be”, “have”, the simple
present tense, the present progressive tense, nouns, pronouns, the simple past time, future time
“be going to”, future time “will”, ability, adjectives, comparisons and ideas with verbs.
C. Learning Activities
Lecturing will be a technique in delivering the theory of English sentence grammar.
Subsequently, students are assigned to do structured work in small groups in the classroom or at
home. Class discussions will be used to discuss students’ work after the learners submit the
assignments to lecturer.

14 Making comparisons 100 minutes
15 Expressing ideas with verbs 100 minutes
16 Final exam 100 minutes
E. Assessment
Students’ learning achievement will be assessed by considering the following components and
their contributions to get the overall grade :
1. class performance : 10 %
2. structured work : 20 %
3. mid-semester test : 30 %
4. semester test : 40 %

F. Course Policy
1. Students are not allowed to make lateness for more than 10 minutes
2. Students are assumed to have read learning materials before the class is started
3. Students must bring the digital or printed dictionary
4. Students must ssubmit assignment on time
