Relaxing Thailand Trip
My parents and I have stayed in Bangkok for two days.

we got (get) up on our legs and took (take) a taxi to Chatuchak Weekend Market in Northern

(ride) on the long tail boat, I took (take) some photos for my parents. At night, we returned
(return) to the hotel and took an evening swim in the outdoor poor. It was so relaxing.
This morning, we got up a bit early, in order to attend a traditional Thai cooking class. Our class
included (include) a visit to a small, local market, where we bought all the ingredients fresh from the
supplier.
While we were wandering (wander) through the market, it rained (rain) heavily but it did
not affect (not affect) our shopping.
We learned (learn) five authentic dishes and mum was really into the cooking class. I hope she
cooked (cook) the dishes for us when we get back to Hong Kong.
Tomorrow we will visit (visit) Phuket. We have booked a speedboat to Zeavola Beach. We will try
(try) Pad Thai Gai and Tom Yum Goong soup in a local family. I hope the trip will be (be) an amazing as

Hi Jessie,
Your trip sounded so fantastic! I hope we can organize something just as exciting here in Hong Kong.
Please introduce an adventurous trip for the exchange students.
Would you be able to draft the formal email to Principal Leung to propose a tour for the exchange
students at our school?
In your email, you should include the following:
- the benefits of responsible travel
- the ONE tour you want to recommend
- the price (and what they include), date and time of the tour
- who organizes the tour, and how the company supports responsible travel
- what students do during the tour
- TWO reasons for choosing the tour
- any possible problems with the tour
Finally, of course, ask Principal Leung for his approval! I really hope he agrees to this.
Look at your notes from our meeting (pp. 18-20). If anyone can convince him, I’m sure it’s you.
Thanks for taking this on.
All the best,
Tiffany

An adventurous day in the Hong Kong Global Geopark
Last week I went on a tour with Back to Basics Ecotours. The package was called ‘Geopark Adventure’ …
and what an adventure it was!
We kayaked to different islands in the Geopark. On each island, the guide gave us a lecture about the
local environment. There were also opportunities for swimming. I saw a huge jellyfish, so I leapt out of the
water! Towards the end we were able to visit a local Hakka village, which was fascinating because of the high
walls and unique culture.
I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves nature and wants to travel responsibly. Also, Back to
Basics always hires people from nearby villages, so you’re supporting a good company!

Have you guys heard about the tour the Explorers Club is organizing for exchange students? I’m definitely
signing up! I don’t know which tour I prefer, though.
Posted by T_Williams
I’ve heard about the two options. I really hope they’ll choose the Geopark one because it’s a good way to learn
about the natural world. You can see the things you’re learning about.
Plus, padding kayaks is fun and exciting! Everyone will enjoy that.

T_Williams, I have to disagree. I think the martial arts day sounds cooler. Kung fu is a part of Hong Kong’s
culture, so it’s important to learn about it. Plus, if we choose that tour, we’re going to meet a real kung fu
master!
Posted by C_Singh
I’d love to meet a kung fu master, but some of our parents may not like us handling kung fu weapons. My
parents might be worried and likely won’t give me permission. Other students might hav difficulty getting
permission as well.
Posted by J_Hall
Sorry to hear about your parents, C_Singh. There is another advantage to the martial arts option, though. The
trip is quite cheap.
Apparently the company running the Geopark tour has limited spots. Only ten students can go. I’d feel
disappointed if I couldn’t go because they ran out of places.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I still can’t decide. I guess I’ll sleep on it.
