Once there was a king who had everything but was still unhappy. He consulted wise men,
but no one could tell him the secret of happiness. One day, a sage told him that he could
find happiness if he wore the shirt of a truly happy man. The king sent his men to find such
a person. They searched the whole kingdom but could not find anyone who was
completely happy. Finally, they came across a poor man who was singing merrily. When
asked for his shirt, the man replied, “I don’t own a shirt!” The king then realized that
happiness does not depend on material possessions.
