Little Red Hen took good care of her wheat, but the dog, the pig and the cow said
they were too tired to help. By the end of the summer, the wheat grew very tall. It
was time to cut the wheat and take it to the mill. “Who will help me cut the wheat
and take it to the mill so that we can have fresh bread?” “Not I,” said the dog. “Not
I,” said the pig. “Not I,” said the cow. “Well then, I will take it to the mill myself,” said
Little Red Hen, and she cut the wheat and set off for the mill.
After the miller made wheat into soft flour, she came back to the farm and asked,
“Who will help me bake the bread?” “Not I,” said the dog. “Not I,” said the pig. “Not
I,” said the cow. “Well then, I will bake the bread myself.” And she did just that! She
mixed the flour with salt and yeast to make the dough. After the dough rose, she put
it in the oven to bake. When the bread was done, she asked, “Who will help me eat
the bread?” “I will”, said the dog. “I will”, said the pig. “I will”, said the cow. “No, you
will not,” said Little Red Hen. “You did not help me plant the grain, and you did not
help me care for it. You did not help me cut it and take it to the mill. You did not
even help me make the bread. I will eat it myself.” “You did not help me plant the
grain, and you did not help me care for it. You did not help me cut it and take it to
the mill. You did not even help me make the bread. I will eat it myself.” While she
was eating the bread she could not see her friends sitting hungry and she eating the
bread all alone. So the hen said “Ok, I will share my bread with you, but you have to
promise that you all will help me in all the chores from now onwards”. And they all
ate the tasty bread together.
Moral: Hard work pays off, but laziness has consequences; if we all helped each
other, we would be able to benefit more.
Once there was a woodcutter. One day he went to the jungle, to get some woods.
There he saw a big tree, he said “what a big tree, I will get lots of wood by cutting
this tree” The woodcutter decided to cut the tree next wee and he went away. After
listening to the woodcutter the tree became very sad. A few days later, the
woodcutter came with an axe and he was about to cut the tree. He saw birds nest on
the tree, Mama bird was feeding her baby bird. Woodcutter saw this and thought, if I
cut this tree the birds will losse their home, so he decided to cut the tree a week
later. After a week when the woodcutter came to cut the tree again, he saw that the
tree was full of flowers and the bees were buzzing and the butterflies were fluttering
around the flowers. By watching this, the woodcutter said, “Oh, if I cut this tree what
will these little creatures do” So he decided to cut the tree next time.
Again after a few days the woodcutter came back to cut the tree, he saw that the
tree was full of fruits and many birds and animals were eating the fruits on the tree,
that are fallen down under the tree, looking at these the woodcutter said, Oh what
can I Do? Now everytime this tree gives something to someone. It was noon time
and the sun was very hot, the woodcutter became tired. So he went to take a rest
under the shadow of the tree, he felt relaxed under the shadow. Looking at the tree
the woodcutter realized the tree was very useful, so he decided not to cut the tree
and went away. By listening to this the tree became very happy.
