Learning Peace
Learning Peace
Short Description:
N’ditarun Tano is a social enterprise that was initiated during the Ranaw
Project Grant Program (RPGP) of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur in
collaboration with The Moropreneur Inc and UNDP Philippines to support Out-of-
School Youths (OSYs) while promoting Meranaw culture and arts. We Support OSYs
by providing educational assistance to those who are seeking to return to school
and livelihood assistance to those are seeking to support their family’s financial
needs. The team are originally members of Federation of Ranaw Youth Student
Leaders (FRSYL) and lead by the Project Head Ammar M. Cayongcat specifically
supports the OSYs from the town of Piagapo, a municipality previously affected by
armed conflict in the Province of Lanao del Sur.
One of the programs of N’ditarun Tano is Kapaganad sa Kalilintad, it is a
peace session on the beneficiaries wherein they will undergo basic training on
peacebuilding and capacitating them a basic skills on conflict transformation using
the manual developed by UNICEF. This is to align one of the objectives of the
project which is to promote inclusive society. The program is designed to attain one
of the objectives of N’ditarun Tano by focusing on peacebuilding and leadership.
This time, Kapaganad sa Kalilintad will be designed for SK Chairmans and SK
Kagawads for them to be peace ambassadors in their own community. This training
primarily targets SK (18 to 24 years old) participants and introduces them to peacebuilding
framework for young people. It will allow them to explore conflicts and issues relating to
lack of peace at the personal and community levels, reflect on ways they deal with
everyday conflicts, and learn how to productively transform these conflicts. It will also
broaden their understanding of violence and peace as core concepts within peacebuilding
framework. It will then introduce participants to peacebuilding competencies and build
their skills in facilitating trainings where they can introduce the core concepts and
competencies to their peers, and how to adapt it considering context and conflict settings in
their communities. By building both their facilitation skills and increasing their confidence
in handling workshops, the training will also challenge participants in designing
peacebuilding trainings for their peers using Adolescent & Youth Peacebuilders Manual.
