A.MOTIVATION
1.Presentation
Today we are going to learn how to recognize describing words for people, objects, things and
places (color, shape, size, height, weight, length, etc.).

2.Importance
It is important to learn about describing words because it help us visualize and explain
information about people, objects, and places. They provide us with clearer picture of
something. If you are good at recognizing describing words, then you are on your way to
become a better speaker, reader and writer.

3.Formative
Assessment At the end of the lesson, students are expected to recognize describing words for people,
objects, things and places (color, shape, size, height, weight, length, etc.).

1.Review/Drill Look at the picture below. Can you think of a word that will describe its:
Number, color, size, and taste.

Learning Episode 2
We use words to communicate. We use them to share our thoughts and ideas about different
things around us. These are called Adjectives. They are describing words. Adjectives describe
people, places, animals, things and events. They tell something about colors, shapes, sizes,
number, and quality. These words can be used to describe specific details such as the following:

 Color - words that refer to color can be used to describe.


Example:
The word red is a color. It was used to describe the
dress.
Other examples:
green
yellowish
dark
light

 Shape- words that refer to shape can be used to describe.


Example:
The word round is a shape. It was used to
describe the ball.
Other examples:
square
rectangular
triangular

 Size and Height- words that refer to size and height can also be used to describe.
Examples:
The word big refers to size. It was used to
describe the building.
Here is a list of other describing words:
Numbers
 a dozen
 a few
 a lot

Sound
 loud
 quiet

Taste
 bitter
 sweet
 sour

Temperature
 cold
 hot
