Overview:
Cognizant of its what, how, and why, Information and Communication Technology’s (ICT’s)
utilization has become an indispensable part of our lives and education is no exception to it. The
integration of ICT in the teaching-learning process has brought significant transformations not only in
the methodologies of teaching but also in the curriculum as well. Further, maximizing the potential of
ICT can bring improvement in the delivery of instruction in different and meaningful ways.
In this episode, your immersion in a classroom setting will bring you into an examination of the
relationship between teaching, learning, and ICT in the curriculum with the use of lenses. This includes
an instructional design and model. Embedded also in these various instructional designs and modules
is due importance to the principles in selecting instructional materials anchored on a specified learning
objective. Moreover, as one utilizes ICT for teaching and learning in the curriculum, one will recognize
that it (ICT) is part of a bigger perspective or picture.

Objectives:
At the end of the activity, the students should be able to:
a. Deduce the principles as anchorage of the utilization of the instructional technology;
b. Describe the utilization of instructional technology in the various parts of the demonstration;
and
c. Analyze the prepared and demonstrated instructional plan vis-à-vis instructional design
(ADDIE) and model (TPACK)

Principles in the Selecting Instructional Materials

1. Principle of Appropriateness – IM must be either basic or supplementary to the curriculum.
2. Principle of Authenticity – IM must present accurate, up-to-date, and dependable information.
3. The principle of Cost Substitutes must be considered first.
4. Principle of interest must stimulate curiosity or satisfy the learner’s need to know. It must have
the power to motivate and encourage creativity, and imaginative responses among users.

My Analysis/Reflection

Reflection

1. How does the utilization of ICT facilitate the teaching-learning process?

2. What relationship exists between the objectives of the lesson and instructional technology?

3. In the instructional design (ADDIE) and model (TPACK), how does the ICT function?
