Method Statement For Concreting Work
1.0 OBJECTIVE
The objective of this method statement is to outline the work procedures for concreting
works. This method statement to be referred and applied to building and civil engineering
works.

3.0 MATERIALS
Tower crane, concrete pump, air - compressor, concrete bucket, vibrator, spatulas and etc as
applicable for the works.
5.1 Ensure all the formwork are free from rubbish and saw dust before placing concrete.
Use air - compressor to clear all the saw dust that deposited at the interior of
formwork.
5.2 Carry out joint inspection with the Clerk of Work / Engineer to obtain acceptance of
work before delivery of ready - mixed concrete. Use inspection form and pre -
concreting checklist for the work inspection.
5.3 Wet the concrete discharge bucket before receive ready-mixed concrete from the
concrete truck.
5.4 If the concreting work is to be carried out by using concrete pump, the following
items must be prepared and checked:
a). The concrete pump feeder hopper and pipelines are free from obstruction, all the
coupling pipe joints are properly tightened, pipelines are firmly secured and
anchored.
b). Pipelines must be wet and blow through with cement mortar of sufficient
volume. Ensure all the cement mortar are discharge away from the area to be
concreted.
5.5 Upon delivery of ready - mixed concrete by concrete truck at the site, the following
items must be checked:
a). Check the delivery order for concrete grade and quantity as well as batching time
before acceptance.
b). Check the concrete workability by carry out the slump test randomly. The load of
concrete shall be rejected immediately if the slump test result is not within the
tolerance that specified as per approved design mix.
5.6 The ready mixed concrete shall be placed continuously to the permanent position to
avoid segregation and compaction shall be carried out thoroughly by using vibrator.
6.01 Carry out joint inspection with the Clerk of Work / Engineer to obtain acceptance of
work by using inspection form and concreting checklist as per the Inspection and
Test Plan.
