Procedure:

1. Set up Circuit 1.

2. With both the voltage source connected to the circuit, measure 𝐼2 , 𝑉𝑅1, 𝑉𝑅2, 𝑉𝑅3 and record the
values in appropriate tables.

3. Setup Circuit 2. Measure and record 𝐼′2, 𝑉′𝑅1, 𝑉′𝑅2, 𝑉′𝑅3.

5. Setup Circuit 3. Measure and record 𝐼′′2, 𝑉′′𝑅1, 𝑉′′𝑅2, 𝑉′′𝑅3.

Table From Physical Lab:
Experimental values

V1 V2 VL V’L+ V’’L

4.97 10.06 3.76 1.218+2.542 = 3.76

Here we can see that

VL = V’L+ V’’L

Report:
1. What is Superposition Theorem? Using measured data, show that your circuit followed
superposition theorem.
Ans: The superposition theorem states that a circuit with multiple voltage and
current sources is equal to the sum of simplified circuits using just one of the
sources.
V1 V’L V2 V’’L

4.97 1.218 10.06 2.542

Here, VL = V’L+ V’’L So we can clearly see that the circuit have followed the superposition theorem

2. Theoretically calculate all values of Table 1 to Table 4. Show all the steps in details.
Ans: The Steps:

Here VR1 = 1.25

V’R1 + V’’R1 = 1.25

Here VR2 = -6.25 Here VR3 =3.75

V’R2 + V’’R2 = -6.25 V’R3 + V’’R3 = 3.75
3. Find the % Error between your theoretical and experimental values.

Experimental Values of VL = 3.76

Theoretical values of VL = 3.75

%Error = | (Theoretical value – Practical value) |*100/ (Theoretical value)
= (3.75-3.76) *100 / 3.75
= -0.26666%

Discussion:

With this Experiment we can easily find the loaded voltage of any circuit. At first, we have to
calculate the exact voltage of the sources. Then we can find the loaded voltage of actual circuit.
After calculating the VL we have to short circuit a voltage source it can be V1 either V2.
Depending on the voltage source if we observe V1 as a single source we will get a loaded
voltage which is V’L again depending on the voltage source if we observe V2 as a single source
we will get a loaded voltage which is V’’L
However, if we calculate V’L + V’’L we will notice that it is equal to the original circuit loaded
voltage. So, Superposition Theorem is Verified
