IV. PROCEDURES
Activity 1: The Famous Vloggers
The well-known Filipino video bloggers were asked to organize
a reunion. It is said that Raffy Tulfo will send out invitations to
Ser Geybin and Ivana Alawi to join him. Count the number of
steps needed to reach a specific location. Legend: 1 unit = 10
A. Reviewing Previous Lesson steps. Answer the following guide questions:
or Presenting New Lesson 1. How far does Raffy Tulfo have to travel to reach Ivana
Alawi's location? Raffy Tulfo to Ser Geybin’s Place?
2. Would the answer remain the same if you counted the
steps from left to right and vice versa? Explain.
3. In math, what do you call a concept that is placed sequentially at equal distances along its length? It can
be usually represented vertically and horizontally.
Activity 2: Connect Me
For the reunion to proceed, other vloggers must be present. Therefore, Ser Geybin will verify Ivana Alawi's
attendance at her residence, and Raffy Tulfo will visit Alex Gonzaga and Cong TV. The participation of five vloggers
has been confirmed for the reunion. In this activity, the class will be divided into four groups, with each group tasked
with answering specific questions based on the given table.
Name of Vloggers Coordinates
Raffy Tulfo (R) (-1, 2)
Ivana Alawi (I) (9, 2)
Ser Geybin (S) (-1, 15)
Cong TV (C) (-11, 2)

The teacher will discuss the concept of Distance Formula - its examples and application.

C. Presenting Examples /
Instances of the Lesson

D. Discussing New Concepts At the gathering, Raffy Tulfo realized that he had forgotten to
and Practicing New Skills#1 invite his vlogger friend and his doctor, Dr. Willie Ong, to the
reunion. He decided to go to Dr. Ong's location at (9, 16) which
is near to Ivana’s place at (9, 2) and away from his location at (-
1, 2). Each unit on the coordinate plane is equivalent to 6
kilometers. Calculate the distance traveled covered.
E. Discussing New Concepts • What is the distance from Raffy Tulfo to Dr. Ong’s
and Practicing New Skills#2 place using the distance formula?
• Do you think that the distance from Raffy Tulfo to Dr.
Ong’s place and vice versa is the same? Explain.
• What is the total distance between the three places?
Group Activity
The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will be given an activity to perform. Each group will present
their work to the class after 10 minutes. Each task will be graded according to the equivalent points in every item.

Groups 1 and 3:
Lieutenant Benjamin Santos orders an air strike on the battlefield targeting the enemy at a coordinate (2, 5). If he
is positioned at a coordinate (-14, -12). (Let 1 unit = 1 km)
• Illustrate the given problem. (2 points)
F. Developing Mastery (Leads • How far is he from the target area? (3 points)
to Formative Assessment 3) • If the danger zone is within the 10 km radius from the strike point, is Lt. Santos safe? Explain (5 points)

Groups 2 and 4:
Small Laude, Zeinab Harake, and Vice Ganda live in three different places. Small Laude’s house is located at
point (-3,7), while Zeinab Harake’s house is located at point (8,10) and Vice Ganda’s is located at point (5,3). (Let
1 unit = 1 km)
• Illustrate the given problem and connect the using a line segment. (1 points)
• About how far is Zeinab Harake’s house from Small Laude’s house? (2 points)
• What is the distance between Vice Ganda’s house and Small Laude’s house? (2 points)
• How can you prove that the triangle in the illustration is isosceles? (2 points)
• What is the total distance among the three houses? (3 points)

Chief Allen was biking on a trail from point A to point B to point

commutative?
Solve the problem.
Two cars of Richmond leave a house at (0, 0) in Tagaytay. One of the cars travels 8km North and then 6km east.
The second car travels 12km south and then 9km west.
• Illustrate the given problem.
I. Evaluating Learning • What are the given?
