Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the development of computer systems capable


of performing tasks typically requiring human intelligence. These tasks include
learning, problem-solving, perception, and language understanding. AI spans a
broad range of technologies, from machine learning to natural language
processing, and has revolutionized industries across the globe. The foundation of AI
lies in mimicking human cognitive functions, allowing machines to perform tasks
autonomously.

2. History of AI

The origins of AI can be traced back to the mid-20th century when mathematicians
like Alan Turing began exploring the possibility of machines thinking like humans.
Turing's famous "Turing Test" proposed a way to measure a machine's ability to
exhibit intelligent behavior indistinguishable from humans. Over the decades, AI
has evolved through various phases, from rule-based systems to the modern era of
machine learning and neural networks, influenced by advances in computational
power and data availability.
