Note: The name of the PNG, JPG and TXT are the same so they can be cross referenced.

5. Off Line Inspection Evaluation Using Stored Images

Off line inspection evaluation is a useful tool to evaluate many images without impacting production.
For example, if several faults occurred on a particular camera, the archived images can be copied
from the camera and evaluated to root cause the issue. The following steps are required to perform
an offline inspection evaluation:

1) Acquire the latest camera project

2) Copy the PNG images from the \\ipaddress\mtxuser\Documents\Matrox Design
Assistant\SavedImages\Date folder(s) in the camera or from the IT Process Wizard
3) Deploy or copy the project to a non-production camera
Jan 2019 11

--Uncontrolled When Printed--
4) Create a \\ipaddress\mtxuser\Documents\Matrox Design Assistant\SavedImages\OfflineImages
folder on the non-production camera
5) Copy the PNG images to the \\ipaddress\mtxuser\Documents\Matrox Design
Assistant\SavedImages\OfflineImages folder in the camera (Verify that the images match the
recipe number that will be evaluated)
6) Start the project on the camera and open the operator view
7) Use the Image Source pull down to select Saved Images and edit the settings as required on
the recipe settings page
8) Either save the project and load to the production camera or make the same modifications to
the production camera utilizing the operator view web pages.
9) Delete the images from the non-production camera \\ipaddress\mtxuser\Documents\Matrox
Design Assistant\SavedImages\OfflineImages folder

Note that replacing the project on the camera may require several minutes of downtime on
the production camera.

Acquire the latest camera project. The latest copy can be acquired from Autosave/MASS or directly
from the camera using the instructions in Section 4.

Copy the PNG images from the \\ipaddress\mtxuser\Documents\Matrox Design

Assistant\SavedImages\Date folder(s) folder in the camera. For example, in Windows Explorer type
\\ipaddress\mtxuser\Documents\Matrox Design Assistant\SavedImages\Date folder(s), using the IP
address of the camera and drag and drop or copy and paste the images.

Deploy or copy the project to a non-production camera or PC. The project can be deployed locally
to a GM PC after setting up the server license (See the Vision Share Point site for information on
how to setup a connection to the GM license server). The project can also be copied or deployed to
a smart camera. A non-production camera should be used, typically a training cell camera, to
prevent impacting production. Section 4 contains instructions to load the project folders to a smart
camera.

Create a \\ipaddress\mtxuser\Documents\Matrox Design Assistant\SavedImages\OfflineImages

folder on the non-production camera. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the OfflineImages
folder. If an OfflineImages folder does not exist in the SavedImages folder, use Windows Explorer
to create the folder.

Copy the PNG images to the OfflineImages folder on the camera. The PNG images for all
inspections are stored in the same folders. Therefore, the user must be aware that not all images
apply to every recipe. Note that the image names contain the recipe ID and can be sorted
accordingly. The image file names are Camera Name-Recipe ID-PVI-Pass or Fail-Time Stamp. In
many cases the differences in the images are obvious but in some cases the images may be very
similar and the user should verify the recipe ID.

Start the project on the camera and open the operator view. Type the test camera IP address in
Chrome or Internet Explorer (minimum version 11) and browse to the projects page. On the
projects page, stop the running project if required by clicking on the STOP button. Start the newly
loaded project by clicking on the plus sign next to the project and then select the START button.
After the project has started, open the operator view by clicking on the OPEN OPERATOR VIEW
button. Depending on the computer settings, the button may only be active after the page has
refreshed or the user has returned to the main portal page.

Use the Image Source pull down to select Saved Images and edit the settings as required on the
recipe settings page. Click on the Recipe Settings button to switch to the Recipe Settings page.
Click on the green Online button to switch to Offline. Select the appropriate Recipe ID using the
pull down selection. Select Saved Images from the Image Source pull down and use the Manual
Trigger button to cycle through the images. The current image file name is shown in the text box
below the Image Source pull down as shown in Figure 16.

Delete the images from the non-production camera \\ipaddress\mtxuser\Documents\Matrox Design

Assistant\SavedImages\OfflineImages folder. The camera memory allows a total of approximately
10,000 uncompressed images (depending on resolution). If too many images are stored in the test
images folder, the camera will not be able to store images in the saved images folder during normal
operation. Therefore, all images should be removed from the offline images folder after testing is
complete.

Either save the project and load to the production camera or make the same modifications to the
production camera utilizing the operator view web pages. For minor numeric value updates,
making the changes on the running camera operator view pages is the best option. For larger
changes and those involving detailed changes the project can be deployed or loaded to the
production camera. If the project name is updated to be different than the running project, the
project can be deployed or loaded to the production camera with less impact to production.

Note: Deploying a program to the camera may take several minutes and the camera is off
line during this process.

6. Project Change Validator

The GTR Project Change Validator (PCV) tests the current project settings against a library of
known pass and fail inspections, called the Validation Set. If a known pass fails or a known fail
passes, the system will report an unexpected result. This system can be used after changes are
made to verify that the updated settings will pass and fail known inspections as expected. This
optional functionality can be enabled and disabled in the PLC logic and on the camera.

The Project Change Validator (PCV) requires a Validation Server. A GTR smart camera or a Matrox
GPm (vision controller with special software load for validation) can be used as Validation Servers.
The Validation Server shall be dedicated to validation and not running a production inspection.
When using a GTR as a Validation Server, set the Validation Server GTR to run no project at start
up as shown in Section 3.

Utilizing a GTR per network area (zone switch) is the preferred option for a Validation Server.
Having a Validation Server per zone switch prevents the data from travelling across the plant
network and limits the load on the Validation Server. The Validation Server can handle a large
number of cameras and automatically queues the Validation requests from multiple cameras in the
order they were received. Each validation is completed and the results are sent back to the
requesting camera prior to starting the next validation. The time required for each validation
depends on the complexity of the project, number of library images and network speed/traffic. The
minimum time for a validation is approximately 1 minute and typical simple applications will take less
than 5 minutes.

Validation of a project can be done manually from the camera web page and cell HMI or
automatically from the PLC. When validation is active, each smart camera notifies the PLC when a
parameter change is made or when a new project is loaded on the camera. The PLC notifies the
user that Validation is required via the HMI camera screen and an alarm. The logic can be
conditioned to run Validation whenever a change is detected. Once complete, the validation report
is available on the HMI or from any PC on the network via web page.

GTR cameras ordered with the /GM designation will be shipped with EIP enabled and set to the GM
standard sizes that match the standard PLC module in GCCS. The GCCS sizes and memory map
are large and flexible to allow most applications to work without modification. In cases where
modification is required, this section shows a remote connection method.

8.1 Using VNC to Change the EIP Settings (Assembly Sizes)

Note: Modifying the EIP module sizes is NOT recommended as this results in a unique set up for
certain cameras and may result in additional down time during a camera replacement.

Note: These same steps can be followed without using VNC by connecting a mouse, keyboard
and monitor directly to the camera using the center camera receptacle, special cable and USB hub.

1) Download UltraVNC from the Vision SharePoint site (Matrox GTR page, Matrox GTR Utilities)
and run the setup.exe, following the prompts to install:
