Libraries, Media and Low-Cost Teaching Aids

The library

A library is mainly a collection of books but can include non-book materials such as
video and audio cassettes, DVDs, CDs. It offers learners an additional choice of
reading material with a variety of reading levels and topics. It also promotes lifelong
reading and research skills also autonomy towards self-development

A library does not necessarily have to be in a designated building. Books can be kept
in a converted classroom or an area with adequate space and can even be organized
into array of boxes labeled with various areas.

Points to note
-Not all schools have an established library and in some cases those that have a library
may just have old, outdated books.
-Some schools would have opted that their books to used in the classroom rather than
collecting them all in one place. (e.g departments are given own corresponding books)
Some schools only have access to a collection of books through a public local and
national library. (eg. Georgetown and linden and other places with a resource center)
