Part B: About the Course

Course Description This course aims at inculcating the basic


accounting skills required by today’s HR
managers. Knowledge of accounting will help
the managers to understand the financial
implications as well appreciate the concerns
raised by the other domain managers. The
course covers the overview of the financial
statements, mechanics of recording financial
transactions, preparation of various books of
accounts, preparation of final accounts and
analysis of financial statements. The course
will also introduce the students of the
intricacies of different accounting policies
which have a deep impact on the balance
sheet and income statement of the company.
Course Learning Objectives After completing the course the students are
expected to acquire the necessary skill to
understand the logic of accounting, to
evaluate the financial health of a particular
organisation and to scan and rectify any errors
or mistakes committed in the accounting
process. The primary objective of this basic
course is to expose the students to the
language of business and to improve their
decision making ability.
