Past progressive

E: We use the Past Continuous to express:


a-Actions in progress at a moment in the past.
E .g.: last night at 9 o’clock , I was reading a book.

b-Describing a scene in the past.


E.g.: It was an awful morning. It was raining heavily and the wind was blowing.

c- Actions happening at the same time in the past.


E.g.She was writing while her peer was playing.
d-an action in progress which was interrupted by another action:
We were watching T.V when the bell rang ,that was my dad who came from abroad!

Form :the past tense of to be :(was/were) + verb ing


*(I -He-She-It) + WAS , (We – You – They ) + WERE
Past continuous or past simple?
