SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

Name of the Farm

“EGG _____’’

The proposed project "______" is a name that perfectly encapsulates the essence of

what the business will offer. It is a name that was chosen carefully by the owner, Ms.

Myll Viliran. It shall be called as such because of the following reasons:

1. It is a unique name that will leave a lasting impression on those who hear it,

making them curious to learn more about what the business has to offer.

2. signifies the high-quality and fresh products that will be offered to customers.

Location

The proposed project poultry farm will be placed on the family-owned land of

Ms. Joeliza Mananquil and her Family. Which is in Barangay Canlargo, Bais City,

Negros Oriental. The owned lot is more or less than 1 hectare but only 300 square

meters are needed for the said project. This strategic location will allow for easy

access to potential customers and ensure a steady demand for the farm's products.

The proposed location of the farm is ideal for a poultry farm because the area

has a favorable climate for raising poultry, with plenty of sunshine and moderate

temperatures. This will create a comfortable environment for the chickens and help

them grow healthy and strong. Also, it’s located near major transportation routes,

making it easy to transport poultry products to markets and customers. This will

reduce transportation costs and ensure that the products reach customers in a timely

manner.

Brief Description of the Project

The proposed business will focus on providing quality fresh eggs to

consumers. This includes gathering the eggs in a sanitary manner, sorting them out to

remove any damaged or dirty eggs, and ensuring that the eggs are properly cleaned

and stored before distribution. By following these steps, the Poultry Farm can

guarantee that only the highest quality eggs are being given to consumers. The

primary target of is the business establishments that involved buying and selling eggs

from the selected barangays in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental. Egg poultry farms play a

crucial role in the food industry by providing a steady supply of fresh and nutritious

eggs to consumers. These farms are typically equipped with modern facilities and

equipment to ensure the health and well-being of the hens, as well as the quality of the

eggs produced.

Market Study

The proposed project product is chicken eggs. Businesses who sell eggs in

selected 12 Barangay in Tanjay City, the target customers. The selling price is 250

Php per tray but for large only. Other sizes have different selling prices such as

peewee, small, medium, and we include the crack eggs. The pricing of chicken eggs

can vary depending on factors such as production costs, demand-supply dynamics,

and market conditions. In general, with fluctuation occurring or unforeseen events

like disease outbreaks in poultry farms. In terms of supply analysis, there are

(12 )established egg poultry Farm competitors in Tanjay City.

The market share of the proposed project is 5% per week. It signifies that the

farm holds a relatively small portion of the overall market, but is still a significant

player in the business industry. The farm has established a solid customer base and is

able to attract a significant portion of the market demand. By focusing on

differentiation, innovation, and customer satisfaction, the farm can increase its market

share and strengthen its position within the industry. By continuously monitoring

market trends and adapting its strategies, the farm can navigate challenges and

capitalize on opportunities to grow its market share in the future.

Technical Study

The proposed business is classified as a small-scale poultry farm because it

only has 1,120 hens and requires only two (2) employees to operate. The two workers

will be tasked with harvesting, weighing, and packaging. They will also inspect the

chickens that laid eggs, collect eggs from battery cages, weigh the eggs, and place

them in paper trays according to size. The eggs will then be stored in a stockroom if

they are ready for sale.

There will be a list of machinery, equipment, and materials to be used in the

manufacturing and production process; such as battery cages, automatic vaccinators,

shovels, rakes, sprayers, weighing balances, egg crates, egg trays that totals to PHP

13,289.00. In addition to machinery and equipment, the cost of the building and

materials for the poultry farm is also crucial. The total cost for the building and

materials is PHP 155,376.00. This includes the construction of the chicken coop,

fencing, and other infrastructure necessary for the operation of the farm.

Raw materials, supplies for the chicken and utilities like water and electricity

are vital for the operation of the business. Water is needed for cleaning and processing

the chicken products, while electricity is required for running equipment and

machinery. Without these utilities, the business will not be able to function effectively

and may face operational challenges.

In addition, the plant location, layout, waste disposal, and direct labor requirements

are also significant factors to consider in the technical aspect of the study

Management Study

Gorya’s Poultry Farm is a business owned by Ms. Myll Viliran and operates as

a sole proprietorship. Two workers will be employed on the farm when it starts up, as

stated in the technical section. The organizational structure will be from the general

manager down to the workers. Each worker must meet the firm’s required

specifications, qualities, and requirements to be hired. This means that the workers

must have the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform their tasks

efficiently. They must also possess qualities such as being hardworking, responsible,

and dedicated to their work. Organizational Cost of the firm will be derived from

various business registration fees, namely on the Department of Trade and Industry

(DTI), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and the local municipal hall for mayor’s

permit and other business licenses.

Financial Study

The firm's owner is in charge of investing the startup funds. It will also

provide funding for the project's initial capitalization. The funds have already been

used to cover the project's manufacturing costs, registration fees, and other expenses

incurred by the business. The financial analysis will consist of a five-year projected

income statement, cash flow statement, balance sheet, and financial statement

analysis. Based on the findings, the poultry farm business is feasible because it can

generate an income of PHP 218,180.33 during the first year of operation and increase

by 12% the following year. The financial ratio analysis of the company shows that the

liquidity ratio has been increasing over the years, from 16.79 in the first year to
106.79 in the fifth year. This is a positive sign as it means that the company has

enough current assets to cover its short-term liabilities. This mean that during the first

year of operation, every PHP. 1.00 liability of the company has an equivalent PHP.

16.79 of their current assets which is set aside to pay such obligations.

On the other hand, the business can also meet its long- term obligations based

on its solvency as the ratio decreases from 0.024 in the first year to 0.008 in the fifth

year. When it comes to profitability, although it decreases during the third year of

operation as the company needs to dispose of the hens and buy new sets of RTL

chickens, the company can still generate profits and will not incur loss during the

five-year projections. As for the payback period of the business, it will take 1.47 years

to recover the cost of investment. According to financial statements, the break-even

point for sales in pesos is PHP. 36,308.53 in the first year, indicating that the

company will make no profit on this volume of sales. The company will have 97%

margin safety. The Discounted Cash Flow Analysis, on the other hand, calculates the

Net Present Value of the invested amount, which is PHP 1,232,229.50, assuming a

1% present value in 5 years

Socio-Economic Study

Eggs Star is a sole proprietorship form of business organization, headed by

Ms. Myll Viliran as the general manager/owner. . As the general manager and owner,

Ms. Viliran is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business, from purchasing

supplies to managing finances to marketing the products. At the start, Gorya’s Poultry

Farm will have two workers who will assist Ms. Viliran in running the business.

These workers will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the venture, as they

will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the business. Each
worker must meet certain specifications, qualities, and requirements before being

hired at Gorya’s Poultry Farm that they should have a basic understanding of the egg

industry and be able to work effectively in a team setting.

INTRODUCTION

Brief Background of the Study

Poultry Farming stands as a dynamic and multifaceted sector with

profound implications for food security, economic development, and sustainable

agriculture food. Today, poultry farming holds significant relevance within the global

food industry due to several key factors. Chicken eggs are nature's perfect, the egg

white is an excellent natural source of high-quality protein, which is rich in essential

amino acids. The yolk is a source of antioxidants, aromatic amino acids, carotenoids,

vitamins, phospholipids, and proteins, which not only provide nutritional value but

also act pro-health and might prevent heart diseases. the eggshell supplies are well

absorbed by the human body minerals, of which the most important is calcium.

Global egg consumption has tripled in the past 40 years with consumer quality

expectations increasing just as rapidly. The International Egg Commission’s vision is

to facilitate an independent and sustainable food supply, ensuring food self-

sufficiency for people now and in the future (Zaheer, 2020.)

The poultry industry must respond to “food” as defined by the consumer.

Chicken eggs have long been recognized as a nutritional powerhouse. With the egg

white containing high-quality protein and the yolk packed with essential nutrients, it's

no wonder that eggs are a staple in many diets around the world. This essay will

explore the historical context, key figures, and the impact of chicken eggs on human

health and the food industry. Buying habits essentially reflect the public’s definition
of need. In this respect, three items arise, an accentuated devotion to product safety,

welfare of the animal during its production, and care of the environment in doing so

(DA &NAFC, 2018).

Therefore, researchers focused on finding solutions to improve the efficiency

and sustainability of the poultry industry in the country. The poultry industry has

always been faced with the challenge of meeting consumer demands when it comes to

food products. One such product that has stood the test of time and continues to be a

favorite among consumers worldwide is the chicken egg. Rich in proteins, essential

nutrients, and versatility, eggs have maintained their status as a staple in many diets.

The research being conducted in the poultry industry in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental

is essential for driving innovation, improving efficiency, and ensuring the

sustainability of the industry.

● To determine which sizes of eggs are most sellable

● To determine the pricing strategy of the business

● To identify the types of business that are selling of eggs

● to maintain the satisfaction of the customers

Methodology

The methodology that the researchers used in gathering data and analysis that

are relevant to the research. It describes and expounds on the research design,

research environment, research respondents, and statistical treatment of data.

The researchers chose to use the Quantitative Method to gather data and

analyze the results. The researchers specifically conducted descriptive surveys among

selected individuals in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental. The chosen method of data

collection was using a Survey Questionnaire. The Survey Questionnaire Part I: Profile

of the respondents In this section of the survey questionnaire, the respondents are

asked to provide their basic information related to their business. This includes the

type of business they are engaged in, such as Sari-Sari Store, Grocery Store, Meat

Shop, or Egg Wholesaler. They are also asked to indicate the number of years their

business has been in operation, ranging from less than 2 years to 10 years and above.

This information helps in categorizing the respondents based on the nature and

experience of their business.

Part II: Survey Questions The survey questionnaire also contains specific questions

related to the egg-selling business of the respondents. This is about the quantity of

extra-large (XL), Large (L), Medium, and Small eggs they sell on a weekly basis.

This information helps in understanding the demand for different sizes of eggs in the

market. Another set of questions in the survey questionnaire pertains to the pricing of

eggs from Extra Large (XL), Large (L), Medium, and Small eggs to their suppliers.

This information helps in analyzing the cost dynamics of the egg-selling business.
This allowed the researchers to collect specific information from the respondents that

would assist in achieving the objectives of the study.

Demand

This section summarizes the results of the survey conducted to determine the

demand for the proposed business.

The researchers focused their study on the business establishments that are

involved in buying and selling eggs in (12) selected barangays in Tanjay City, Negros

Oriental. This barangay was chosen due to its diverse population. These barangays

were chosen due to the large concentration of retailers and customers. Through the

valuable insights and perspectives provided by the responders, the researchers gained

deeper understanding of the business research and developed comprehensive findings.

Responses

In gathering the data and in obtaining the sample size of study, the researchers

first asked for a list of business establishments in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental. Upon

receiving the list, the researchers identified the barangays that had a high population

of establishments involved in the buying and selling of eggs, as well as those with a

large population of potential target customers. The researchers used Raosoft as a tool

to know the sample size which is equivalent to 213. Also, in the table provided,

researchers listed the total number of establishments in the identified barangays to

establish the pool of potential target customers. Using the sample size of 213 as a

divisor, the researchers found that the use of Raosoft provides similar results. To

determine the 165 target customers (as shown in Table 3), the researchers used

question 5, which asked if they were willing to buy products. 163 people said yes,
which equaled 77.62%, and the researchers multiplied the sample size of 213 by the

percentage of those who said yes to get 165, who are our target customers.

Results showed that out of 12 barangays surveyed, Santa Cruz Viejo had the highest

number of business establishments, with a total of 77, followed closely by Poblacion

9 with 76. Both barangays evidently thrived economically, with a wide range of

businesses catering to the needs of the community. On the other hand, Azagra showed

the lowest number of establishments with only 18. This indicates that the number of

business establishments serves as the basis for supplying the amount of poultry eggs

in each barangay.

Marketing Program

Product

The proposed project is chicken eggs. The researcher's focus on ensuring the

health of the hens is critical for maintaining a successful egg production operation.

And also,to fulfill the satisfaction of the buyers. Researchers are also exploring

sustainable farming practices to reduce the environmental impact of egg production.

This includes investigating alternative feed ingredients, implementing waste

management systems. Eggs are so nutritious that they’re often referred to as “nature’s

multivitamin.” They also contain unique antioxidants and powerful brain nutrients

that many people are deficient in. Eggs are a good source of protein and vitamins.

They can be a healthy addition to a dietary plan, if a person eats them in moderation.

However, it is important to properly cook and prepare them. Eggs are a versatile food

and people can enjoy them in a variety of ways. Methods for safely cooking eggs can

include poaching, hard cooking, scrambling, frying and baking. However, it is

important to ensure that yolks are firm. It is also convenient to prepare and it is not

time consuming.

Product Category. The product that will be sold is food and falls under the category

of animal products, and it belongs to the poultry and eggs category.

Brand

A brand is a product, service or concept that is publicly distinguished from

other products, services or concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually

marketed. Branding is the process of creating and disseminating the brand name, its
qualities and personality. Branding could be applied to the entire corporate identify as

well as to individual products and services or concepts. Well-known advertising

copywriter and ad agency founder David Ogilvy defined a brand as: “ the tangible

sum of a product ‘s attributes: its name, packaging and price, its history, its reputation,

and the way it’s advertised.

Pricing

The cost of production and the quantity of goods produced will cause the

product's pricing. Customers would receive comparable benefits at a fair price from

the product. Product costs, including direct material and utility expenses, are taken

into account when setting prices. The unit cost is calculated by dividing the total

manufacturing costs by the number of units produced, and then a markup is added.

The daily capacity of units generated will be in the technical study.

TECHNICAL STUDY

Objectives of the Technical Study

 To determine the necessary direct and indirect materials for production

 To determine the method of production

 To determine how much each necessary material will cost.

 To have the ability to offer a daily production schedule and capacity

 To determine the product's manufacturing expenses.
