Description Global Handwashing Day is an annual global
advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and
understanding about the importance of handwashing with
soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent
diseases and save lives. This report summarizes the
events and activities that took place on October 15, 2024,
to mark this important day.
Objectives The following are the objectives of the activity:
 To increase global awareness about the
importance of handwashing with soap as a
simple yet effective measure for preventing
diseases and improving public health.
 Encourage individuals to adopt and maintain
regular handwashing habits to reduce the
transmission of diseases, including respiratory
infections, gastrointestinal illnesses, and COVID-
19
 Empower communities, especially in underserved
areas, with the knowledge and resources to
practice and promote good hand hygiene.
 Advocate for the integration of handwashing
education in schools, workplaces, and public
health programs, and support policy changes
that promote hand hygiene.
