Media is the means of mass communication such as social media platforms, magazines, or

television/youtube.

Propaganda
- The widespread coordination of people bent on shifting the media landscape.
- Information used to promote a particular point of vuem change of behavior, or
hotiviate action, sometimes that information is facts and ideas, sometimes it’s
opinions, or intentionally misleading or biased.

Disinformation
- Used to confuse and distract the intended audience using deliberately false or
misleading information

Misinformation
- Unintentionally inaccurate information; accidents, or mistakes in reporting

FAKE NEWS

- News
- AP
- Routers
- Circular Reporting
- When the press published misinformation and another publication approves of
it, then the press cites that publication as their information source
- Satire
- Sarcasm
- Appears to other authors as being verified by multiple sources
- Satire articles can be picked up by other sources as legitimate
- Sources like wikipedia where citizens can add information can become flawed
- Check the full URL
- Check other sources
- If there are dead links, or empty links, beware.
- Google search images
- If you see an image, and you right click and search google for the image,
it’ll connect you to other sources.

How might fake news affect one’ mental health?


● It might make them depressed, and feel emotions
● It might feel anxious, stressed or worse about yourself

Does it seem true and accurate to you/your friends?


● It seems pretty sure

At what age does it become your personal responsibility to critically analyze what you read
online?
● When you start high school, or middle school

What happens if you repost something as real that turns out to be false? Is it your
responsibility to only post things that are true and accurate?

Media is the plural for medium. Medium refers to a means of doing something. Media is
the means of mass communication such as social media platforms, magazines, or
television/youtube.

Information that is used to promote a particular point of view, change behaviour, or
motivate action
Sometimes that information is facts and ideas, sometimes it’s opinions, or intentionally
misleading or biased
Not inherently evil
Used to manipulate the public into things
Most of the time, the people doing the propaganda is the government

Disinformation
Used to confuse and distract the intended audience using deliberately false or misleading
information
Just because disinformation is not being spread by the government does not mean it is not
as damaging
Disinformation can work like propaganda but it is best as confusing the facts of real
information
Some are full of lies, some are full of distractions

Most often cases of misinformation are during a breaking news situation

News used to go around from associated press or rooters
Circular reporting is when the press publishes misinformation and another publication
approves it, then the press cites that publication as their information source
Instead of having a legitimate news source, they keep citing each other as sources
Appears to other authors as being verified by multiple sources
Satire articles can be picked up by other sources as legitimate
Sources like Wikipedia where citizens can add information can become flawed
