MAIN
PROPOSED Sustainable Solution for Power Outages During Typhoons:
TOPIC/ Innovating Neodymium Magnets as Emergency Lamp
RESEARCH
PROBLEM # 1
RATIONALE The frequent occurrence of typhoons severely impacts the
power lines causing an interruption in electricity. According to
Pepino et al. (2020), many households still suffer from power
outages. In modern society, essential needs are provided by
electricity (Francisco & Abrigo, 2023), which has a huge impact on
the daily lives of mankind. Additionally, some students face
difficulties in their education without a source of light. This leads
the researchers to explore alternative solutions to mitigate the
impact of power outages in their daily lives. They develop a
solution through an innovative approach by utilizing magnets to
generate free energy to power a lamp.
METHODOLOGY
METHODOLOGY
Rare earth elements are widely used for clean energy and
technology. The growing demand for rare earth elements faces a
challenge in the supply chain.
METHODOLOGY
BACKGROUND
OF THE Waste management is a challenge that the people face
PROBLEM everyday, especially in the Philippines. Places filled with different
waste can contribute to severe environmental issues like land
pollution and climate change (EARTHDAY.ORG, 2024). The
lack of the people’s awareness can interrupt effective waste
management. As a result, many wastes ended up in landfills
instead of being recycled. Traditional solid waste management
is one of the previous solutions for that, but overtime, traditional
solid waste management practice has been characterized by the
frequently irresponsible dumping of complex mixed and toxic
solid wastes in landfill sites (Hamer, 2003). This inefficiency can
cause more pollution and risk of climate change.
