"The Effect of Alim (Melanolepsis Multiglandulosa)

Crude Extract as an alternative for Albino Mice in

Lowering blood sugar"

ABSTRACT

The study investigated the hypoglycemic (blood sugar-lowering) effects of Melanolepis multiglandulosa (Alim), a
plant traditionally used for medicinal purposes due to its antiviral, antioxidant, and antihyperglycemic properties.
Earlier research has identified various bioactive compounds in Alim, including triterpenoids, sterols, and glucosides.
The study aims to determine Alim's ability to reduce blood sugar levels in albino rats. Different doses of Alim
extract were tested to evaluate its effectiveness in lowering blood glucose and to explore the mechanisms behind its
hypoglycemic activity.

BACKGROUND RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

Nowadays, a lot of people prefer to drink unhealthy

drinks that could cause high blood sugar and for this
reason, we found a solution or an alternative to this
problem. We also found out if we could use alim
extract to lower blood sugar. And our first step was that
we tested it first in albino mice in order to determine if
Alim extract is effective in lowering blood sugar. We
chose albino mice for this experiment because they are
used extensively in medical research. Its main
advantage is its calmness and ease of handling.

OBJECTIVES

To evaluate the effectiveness of Alim leaves extract in

lowering blood sugar levels in albino mice. To measure
the reduction in blood sugar levels in albino mice after
administering Alim leaves extract over a period of time.
To compare the hypoglycemic effect of Alim leaves CONCLUSIONS
extract with a known antidiabetic drug. To observe any
side effects or adverse reactions in albino mice after
treatment with the extract.
SIGNIFICANCE

Alim leaves extract could offer a cost-effective, natural

remedy for blood sugar management, particularly in
regions where access to conventional medication is
limited. The findings paved the way for further research
into its applications in humans and its potential RECOMMENDATIONS
inclusion in integrative medicine.
