Dr Aniruddha Malpani
Dr Aniruddha Malpani is a pioneer in the field of reproductive medicine. He is the founder-
director of Malpani Infertility Clinic ,which provides state-of-the-art IVF treatment. The clinic
offers all the newest reproductive techniques, including IVF, ICSI, laser assisted hatching,
embryo freezing, egg vitrification, egg donation, PGD , surrogacy , embryo biopsy, and
blastocyst transfer and treats infertile couples from all over the world. More than 15000 babies
have been born as a result of taking treatment in the clinic.
He has pioneered a number of innovative techniques in India , as documented in the Limca
Book of World Records. These include the following:
started India's first sperm bank in 1990;
first baby in India born by the technique of GIFT (gamete intra-fallopian transfer) in 1991 ;
achieved India's first baby by embryo adoption ;
introduced the cutting edge technique in India of PGD ( preimplantation genetic diagnosis) in
1998;
and achieved India's first pregnancy after TESE-ICSI ( testicular sperm extraction with
intracytoplasmic sperm injection), a breakthrough treatment for male infertility, in 1996;
He started India's first website for infertile couple, www.ivfindia.com;
launched India's first app for infertile couples, www.myfertilitydiary.com;
and created India's first support group for infertile couples, called Infertility Friends in 1997.
He founded HELP, the Health Education Library for People (www.healthlibrary.com), which is
India’s first Consumer Health Education Resource Center. Am a fervent believer in Information
Technology; and using the internet to empower patients.
He has authored many books, including: Using Information Therapy to Put Patients First; and
Patient Advocacy – Giving Voice to Patients. These are all available online at
