Steps to Import a Workflow into KNIME

METHOD 1:
Note: Please make sure KNIME software is installed.
1. First, download the workflow provided in .knwf format to your computer.
2. This file will automatically show as a KNIME file if the KNIME software is installed. Double click on the file
or right-click on it and go to the ‘Open with..’ option and select KNIME. Screenshots are provided for the
same.

3. Next, it will ask for the workspace you would like to launch the workflow in, by default it takes in the
directory which was selected as a workspace during installation. A screenshot of the same is shown below.

4. This will open the workflow in the KNIME Analytics Platform and a prompt highlighted in yellow will
appear along with it. This prompt asks us to save the workspace in the local workspace from the location it
was downloaded originally to. Click on the ‘Save as’ option in the prompt to start working on the workflow.

5. Now it is important to configure the ‘CSV Reader’ node before we proceed with the workflow. This is
done to load the dataset that is present in our system. For this, right-click on the ‘CSV Reader’ node and
then select the ‘Configure’ option, and browse to the location of the dataset to select it. Screenshots of
the process are shown below for reference.

METHOD 2:
Another way to open a workflow is by importing the workflow into the platform. The steps
are explained below.

1. First, download the workflow provided in .knwf format to your computer.


2. Open the KNIME Analytics Platform and go to the ‘File’ tab, navigate to the ‘Import KNIME Workflow’
option. Then select the workflow by browsing to the location of the workflow file and click Finish.

3. Now you can open the workflow by searching for it in the KNIME Explorer window in the left panel as
shown in the below screenshot. By default, the workflow is present in the LOCAL (Local Workspace)
directory so you may also directly look for the workflow in the LOCAL (Local Workspace) directory.

4. Once the workflow opens you may start working on it. Please remember to follow the steps in selecting the
appropriate dataset as shown previously in Step 5.
