OUR REFLECTION FROM CREATING A LEARNING RESOURCE USING POWER POINT

Creating a digital resource using PowerPoint was both a challenging and rewarding experience. I
designed my resource with the goal of enhancing student engagement and providing a clear, visual aid
to support my teaching. PowerPoint's versatility allowed me to include a variety of media elements,
such as images, charts, and animations, to cater to different learning styles and make the lessons more
dynamic.

Using the Resource in Teaching:

I plan to use this PowerPoint presentation as a teaching tool to introduce complex concepts in a more
digestible way. By breaking down information into slides, I can guide students through lessons step by
step. The visual aids will help students better understand abstract ideas, and the interactivity of the
presentation allows for moments of active learning. For example, I incorporated quizzes and discussion
prompts within the slides to encourage participation and critical thinking.

Challenges Faced and Solutions:

One of the primary challenges I faced was ensuring that the presentation was both informative and
engaging without overwhelming the students with too much information. PowerPoint slides can easily
become text-heavy, which can cause students to disengage. To overcome this, I focused on keeping the
text concise and using images or infographics to explain concepts visually. Another challenge was the
technical aspect of using PowerPoint to its full potential. While I was familiar with basic functions, I had
to spend extra time learning how to add transitions, animations, and interactive elements to create a
more engaging experience.

Learning About Digital Literacy:

This process highlighted the importance of digital literacy in education. As an educator, it is crucial to be
proficient with digital tools to enhance learning and keep up with the digital demands of the modern
classroom. I learned that being digitally literate goes beyond knowing how to use technology—it’s about
being able to critically evaluate digital resources, adapt them to teaching needs, and understand how
they impact learning outcomes. Teaching students’ digital literacy is equally important as it equips them
with the skills needed to navigate and succeed in a technology-driven world.

Technology in Future Teaching Practice:

In my future teaching practice, I envision technology playing a central role in fostering a more inclusive
and flexible learning environment. I plan to use digital tools like PowerPoint, interactive apps, and online
platforms to accommodate different learning preferences and ensure that students have access to
materials both in and out of the classroom. Technology will also enable me to offer personalized
feedback more efficiently and encourage collaboration among students through digital discussions and
group projects.

Overall, this project reinforced the idea that technology, when used thoughtfully, can significantly
enhance teaching and learning.
