The graphs demonstrate the data of/regarding foreign visitors who came to the UK and the

amount number of UK residents who traveled abroad. They also provide information about the

popularity of various countries visited by UK residents from 1979 to 1999.

Overall, there was a dramatic rise/significant increase in the number/volume of UK citizens

taking holidays overseas, while/whereas the percentage of foreign visitors to the UK showed
only a slight change/marginal fluctuation. Additionally, France was the most popular destination

for UK travelers./ France emerged as the top choice for UK travelers.

It can be clearly seen that starting in 1979, there was an upward trend/consistent upward

trajectory in overseas travel by UK residents. There was a small increase of about five percent

before 1989. After that/Subsequently, the trend accelerated markedly/ continued to grow sharply,

reaching a peak/culminating in 1999, when more than half of the UK population traveled abroad.

In comparison, the number of international visitors to the UK experienced gradual

growth/demonstrated gradual progression, increasing by approximately/escalating by roughly ten

percent from 1979 to 1994, and then remaining stable/plateauing at just over twenty percent in

1999.

To begin, the most popular country for Britons to visit was France, attracting nearly 15 million

UK visitors. The next most popular destination was Spain, with over 10 million UK travelers.

The three least popular countries for UK citizens were Turkey, Greece, and the USA, each

receiving fewer than 5 million UK visitors.
