SCIENCE KNOWS NO COUNTRY, BECAUSE KNOWLEDGE
BELONGS TO THE HUMANITY
(a video will play) “Think about the video we just watched. Now, picture a home equipped with cutting-edge fire defense technology. How do you think the outcomes would differ? What if there was a technology that could automatically alert emergency services when a fire is detected In the next 10 minutes, we will reveal a way to face this kind of situation effectively...
Good [morning/afternoon/evening], everyone. It’s a
pleasure to be here today. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the principal mam,sir.. ,judges and all attendees for joining us. At this spectacular INTER HOUSE MODEL COMPETITION . THINK VIGYAN 2024 Before we dive deeper into the model, I’m [PURNIMA KHURANA AND IM TANISHKA SINGH], and we’ll be guiding you through the theoretical foundations. Next, [IM NIKHIL CHAURASIA and IM AMAN SHARMA ] and we will explain the mechanics behind our model, followed by [PRIYANSHU RAI] with the demonstration BEHIND THE STAGE." "Introducing IFFD IGNIS FINDER FIRE DEFENDER : the future of FIRE management technology." The IGNIS FINDER FIRE DEFENDER (IFFD) is designed to protect residential properties from fire hazards. The system incorporates advanced detection technologies, automated responses, and real-time communication features to ensure homeowners receive immediate alerts about fire incidents, allowing them to take prompt action or notify authorities. Lets explore the key material used starting with ARDUINO UNO It is an open-source microcontroller board based on the Microchip ATmega328P microcontroller A SMOKE SENSOR Is a versatile gas sensor commonly used to detect a variety of gases, smoke etc. AN ULTRASONIC SENSOR A sensor that uses sound waves to measure distances accurately A GSM MODULE This module is used for communication, enabling devices to send and receive SMS messages, make voice calls A MOTOR DRIVER it is used to control the direction and speed of DC motors and stepper motors A RELAY MODULE Relays are switches that open and close circuits electromechanically, A WATER PUMP that will be used to supply water A SERVO MOTOR a specialized motor used for precise control of position, speed, and acceleration A BO MOTOR IT is a small, low-power DC motor used in robotics. Work between range of 3V to 12V. IR SENSOR Is an electronic device that detects infrared (IR) radiation in its environment FLAME SENSOR It is designed to detect the presence of a flame or fire Node Mcu
The Node MCU is an open-source IoT platform based on
the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module .Which is a development board .
As Benjamin Franklin famously said, ‘An ounce of
prevention is worth a pound of cure.’ Yet, when it comes to fire safety, our current methods often fall short.
Lets know the problem faced in outdated technology
In the absence of automation during a household fire, several critical challenges arise: Delayed Detection: Fires may not be noticed quickly, especially at night or in hidden areas, leading to slower response times. Slower Evacuation: Without alarms or emergency lighting, confusion and panic may delay evacuation. Manual Fire Suppression: Residents must manually fight fires, which can be dangerous and ineffective. Increased Fire Spread: Lack of automated sprinklers or fire doors allows the fire to grow unchecked. Health Risks: Greater exposure to smoke and toxic fumes without early warnings. Vulnerable Groups at Risk: Children, elderly, and disabled individuals may struggle to evacuate in time. Property Damage: Without fire suppression, fires cause more extensive damage. Risk to Firefighters: Delays and uncontrolled fires make conditions more dangerous for responders. In short, without automation, fire detection, response, and containment are slower, increasing risks to life, health, property, and firefighting efforts. In the face of these challenges, we must ask ourselves: Can we afford to ignore automation in fire safety? The stakes are far too high. By embracing technology, we can protect our loved ones, safeguard our homes, and ensure that the nightmare of a fire doesn’t become a reality. Did you know that fires cause over $11 billion in damages annually? What if I told you that this number could be drastically reduced with a simple, automatic system designed to detect and extinguish fires before they get out of control?" So lets look into the ADVANTAGES OF OUR IFFD Automatic fire-fighting robots can be equipped to detect and respond to fires faster than humans, improving response times and reducing fire damage. These robots can operate in environments that are otherwise inaccessible to humans, such as collapsed buildings, chemical fires, nuclear facilities, or confined spaces where human entry may be unsafe or impossible. These robots can be controlled remotely, allowing human operators to manage firefighting efforts from a safe distance NOW NIKHIL AND AMAN WILL GUIDE AND TELL YOU ABOUT THE WORKING OF OUR MODEL This project utilizes a flame sensor and an MQ-2 gas sensor to create a smart fire detection system. When smoke or flames are detected, the system will alert you with a buzzing sound and a flashing red light. It’s an essential safety feature for homes and workplaces! Detection: The flame sensor continuously scans for flames, while the MQ-2 gas sensor measures the concentration of gases in the air, providing a real- time PPM (parts per million) value. Threshold Monitoring: The system is programmed with a specific PPM threshold. If the detected PPM exceeds this threshold, it indicates a potential gas leak or fire hazard. Alarm Activation: Upon detection of flames or when the gas concentration exceeds the threshold: The buzzer emits a loud beep, alerting anyone nearby. A red LED lights up, visually signaling the danger. Deactivation: When the sensors no longer detect a fire or the PPM value falls below the safe level, the system will: Silence the buzzer. Turn off the red LED.
More to go..
Although initial investments in robotic firefighting
technology may be high, long-term operational costs can be reduced due to the reduction in human labor, potential fire damage, and faster response times. "Thank you for your incredible support! Let’s turn that energy into action and make a real impact together!"
