3.1 Calling up the multiple tag list in novaPro Open Studio

The tag table in novaPro Open Studio for displaying and modifying on-line values for novaPro Open
tags has been replaced by the more convenient multiple tag list.
The multiple tag list can now be called up directly from within novaPro Open Studio, and also from
within novaPro Open pictures using a trigger object.

Advantages:
o Uniform appearance when working with lists in a novaPro Open application.
o Calls are made via dynamic tag filters. Thus it is possible to install one tag filter for
each plant or section. Selecting the desired filter will exclusively display data points
from the desired plant or section.
It allows convenient operation of the novaPro Open application via plant-specific data
point lists.
o You now have direct access to all the parameters for tag definition from the tag list
with on-line data on call from the novaPro Open Studio.
o Tag address and sampling rate
o Activating or deactivating tag reading.
o Forced reading of every tag displayed in the list.

3.7 Alarm template
A context can now be used for selecting a
filter in the filter definition for an event
window. This allows the display of various
context-dependent alarms in the event
window.

Fig. 8: Alarm filter selection with context Fig. 9: Calling up an event window via a trigger object
from within a picture with context details.

3.8 Context
The tag context for pictures and trends was introduced with novaPro Open 2.1. The tag context
enables the efficient generation of group pictures.
novaPro Open 2.2 also allows the use of context in event windows and alarm objects via alarm filters,
and in the tag list (Tag Lock) and analysis via tag filter.
JavaAPIs are available for Java programmers:
o changeLayoutContext(context)
o ChangeContext(window, context)
o loadPicture(window, image, context)
Advantages:
o Allows you to call up a specific alarm list for each room in group pictures (hotel rooms). You
only need to generate one alarm list.

3.9 Support of ActiveX elements in pictures
What is an ActiveX?
An ActiveX is a small program (usually a dll or ocx file) with a graphic user interface. The graphic
user interface can be integrated in a novaPro Open picture.
ActiveX elements are either supplied by a third party and will enable specific functions, or
programmed using a C++, VB, Java or .Net development environment.

ActiveX elements available in novaPro Open must be listed in the file ActiveX.ini.

Fig. 11: ActiveX.ini file

Embedding the Windows Media Player in a novaPro Open picture:

Fig. 12: Windows Media Player as ActiveX

Enter the video file to be played by default when the picture is opened under 'Default file'. You can
also use a novaPro Open tag to dynamically send the video file to Windows Media Player.
To do so, create a dummy tag of the type 'String'. You can now assign the name of the video file to
the tag.

Application example:
Allocate the file to be played as an instruction for the user in the event of an alarm to the 'Video' tag.

3.10 BACnet generation – Object Generator
Advantages:
o On-line generation of BACnet objects.
o Off-line generation of BACnet objects from EDE files. An on-line connection to BACnet
stations is now no longer required for setting the parameters for a novaPro Open BACnet
application. This makes engineering easier, especially in multi-vendor projects. The exchange
of data with the BACnet stations to be integrated occurs via the standardised data exchange
format EDE.
o View (Preview) of imported data points and alarms prior to definitive adoption

Data generated automatically by the Object Generator:

o The Object Generator automatically scans the network for connected BACnet automation
stations and generates the tags for novaPro Open and corresponding lists with the BACnet
State Texts for multi-stage switching commands.
o The Object Generator automatically generates the Alarm Rules required for BACnet together
with the corresponding alarm filters.
o In addition to on-line generation, the Object Generator will also allow you to import BACnet
objects via an EDE file.

3.11 Object Generator Wizard
The new 'Object Generator Wizard' enables the import and automatic creation of novaPro Open tags
for data points of the EY3600 system. The data points are imported directly from CASE FBD or
CASE Engine. It is not necessary to first export the data points as a BMTL_Export.
The 'Object Generator Wizard' replaces the conversion program 'CONV EY3600' used up until now.

An EDE file can be created directly from CASE FBD or CASE Engine data for projects in EYK220,
EYK230 or EYK300.
The EDE file in BACnet projects serves the exchange of data between automation level and
management level. The EDE file permits the parameterisation of the management level without
having to create an on-line connection to the automation stations (see also 3.10)

Advantages:
o Import direct from CASE FBD or CASE Engine project data without previously exporting the
date in an intermediate format.
o Generation of the novaPro Open tags for EY3600 novaNet
o Generation of the novaPro Open alarms for EY3600 novaNet
o Generation of the EDE file for EY3600 BACnet
o Automatic generation of tag filters based on the house address structure. Tag filters are used
in the 'Tag Table', 'Multiple Tag List' to display a plant address list. 3.1 Calling up the multiple
tag list in novaPro Open Studio
o Automatic creation of novaPro Open text tables (*.tbl), for instance to display comparators as
text. A *.tbl is created automatically for multi-stage switching commands based on the
definitions in CASE.
o Automatic creation of alarm filters (see also 3.6 Alarm objects in pictures support alarm filters,
3.7 Alarm template)
o View (Preview) of imported data points and alarms prior to definitive adoption

Data generated by the Object Generator Wizard is stored under UCVT_Data in the project directory.
Example when using the Project Template: D:\EY3600\Hotel Bellevue\Private_Data\UCVT_Data

3.12 Tag and Alarm Editor
The new Tag and Alarm Editor in novaPro Open makes editing tags and alarms more efficient.
It is now possible to conveniently perform the following frequent tasks using a list view.
o Supplementing or changing tag descriptions and alarm texts
o Adding or changing user rights for tags and alarms
o Supplementing or changing attributes such as, for instance, 'record historically', DDE, etc.
o Supplementing or changing driver addresses
o Changing assigned drivers
o Supplementing or changing the notification group in the event of alarms
o Allocation of Help files to alarms
o Creation of the definitions file ZP3600.ini for the graphic time programme ZP3600_Web.
o etc.

Advantages:
o Efficient modification of properties of a large number of tags or alarms.
o The 'Export, process with Excel and re-import' method used to date no longer applies. Data is
modified directly in the novaPro Open database.
o Reduction of work steps required to modify tag and alarm properties.
Ö More efficient, i.e. faster and safer method of working.
