6.3 Improved BACnet dynamic window
The BACnet dynamic window has been completely redesigned and differs in function from the
BACnet object displayed in the window.

As an example, here is the LOOP object displayed in the BACnet window.

6.4 Improved BACnet driver

To use the complete capabilities of SAUTER and competitors’ BACnet devices, the driver uses the
COVP feature.
In order to do so, the concept allows the user to define an “in monitoring with COV” mode.
That means that when enabling the “in monitoring” mode, a dynamic subscription is performed on the
device to read the properties required, and when this mode is disabled, subscriptions are deleted.

6.5 Default BCC parameters

To increase the engineering phase, especially when a new BACnet project is created, we set the
BCC parameters in accordance with the SAUTER guide lines as default.

7.2 List Viewer

The List Viewer is a new web application based completely on HTML 5 (works on all web browsers
as well as smartphones and tablets) that allows users to display data point lists with values. Within
the viewer it is possible to open all images, charts and other elements where a data point is used.
The data point values can be modified from here and all data point information is displayed, such as
alarms, etc.

DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 7 / 22

DoNr.: D100140639
7.2.1 Single object list display

The List Viewer add-on is for displaying custom object lists. The method of selecting objects is
covered in the “Object list configuration menu” section.
The display of the listed objects is based on the studio’s list view model. This model is already used
to display the list of objects, alarms, images, event summary, users, etc.
This list of column headers (object properties displayed) is exhaustive.
It is possible to filter the objects in the list using the column headers in the same way as in the studio
object list view.
It is possible to sort the list using the column header in the same way as in the studio object list view.
Only one row can be selected at a time.
There are no limitations regarding the number of displayed objects, except for the user network
capabilities.
SAUTER will provide two MDB database files, the filenames will be static, and the structure will be
flat (one table only).

DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 8 / 22

DoNr.: D100140639
7.2.2 Multiple object display

In the List Viewer, several views can be opened in tabs using different display filters.
A maximum of 10 tabs is permitted.

Depending on the usability, only one filter may be provided. This search field filters each column and
some special commands allow the user to select which column to filter. Studio and WEB behaviour
are identical in terms of column filters.

7.2.3 Object list configuration menu

A modal dialogue box allows the user to select the objects to be displayed.

DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 9 / 22

The “Global filter / context list” group box contains:
 A drop-down list to select the content of the underlying list box. The user can display
the content from these elements: “Tag filters”, “Contexts”, “Favourites”, “Non-System
Tags” and/or “System Tags”
 Depending on the usability, check box selection may be chosen
 A list box which, according to the selection in the above drop-down list, will display the
contents of the nPO application. The user may select the items required.

The “Tab x filter / context list” group box contains:

 A drop-down list to select the current tab configuration being worked on.
 A “Select” and “Select All” button to add new objects.
 A “Unselect” and “Unselect All” button to delete the current (selected) tab configuration
 A “browse…” button to select the associated event summary
A list box which displays the contents of the current tab configuration according to the selection in the
above drop-down list.
The user must use the “save” feature to save any modifications.

7.2.4 Image trigger

7.4 User logged in online
It is possible to display the local logged-in user online.

The tag SYS_OPERATOR is used to display the user name in the studio AND online when the
internet browser is being used.
The modifications online consist of overriding the value of the SYS_OPERATOR tag with the
currently logged-in user.
The size of the SYS_OPERATOR is not changed (20 characters).

The value of the SYS_OPERATOR is:

The logged-in user name for a web client
The logged-in user name for a studio client (server either master backup, or view)

7.5 New language: Portuguese

nPO is now available in Portuguese.
This language has been added to the current set of available languages:

 English
 French
 German
 Italian
 Spanish
 Korean
 Czech
 Polish
 Russian
 Chinese
 Hungarian

7.6 Alarm inhibition with time out

It is currently possible to inhibit an alarm, but without time out. This parameter has now been added
to release the alarm delay after a defined time.

The minimum is 1 hour and the maximum is 30 days (whole hours/days). By default this value is 1
hour.

DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 15 / 22

DoNr.: D100140639
7.7 Improved OPC AE
7.7.1 Dealing with the event “OPC_CHANGE_MESSAGE”
One particularity of the KABA Server is that it changes an event message without generating a new
event. As it is not possible to change the text of an active alarm in nPO, the
OPC_CHANGE_MESSAGE is not dealt with by the OPC AE client (the following line is visible in
error.dat : “cmAE_Client>Alarm in the list nothing to do”).
Instead, a new parameter is added to the “Subscription param.” dialogue box, which will permit the
user to choose if a new alarm should be generated as soon as the OPC_CHANGE_MESSAGE event
is received by the client. If this parameter is selected the user will have to acknowledge and end the
previously generated alarm themselves.
For example, imagine you have an event, DOOR, defined in the KABA server by the message “Door
is open”. This event is released to the client by the server so that the alarm “Door is open” is
generated in nPO. After a while the door is closed, so the KABA server does not generate a new
event, but instead just changes the message of the previously generated event from “Door is open”
to “Door is closed”. In this case the OPC AE client generates a new alarm in nPO called “Door is
closed”. The user then has to acknowledge and end the nPO alarm “Door is open” themselves. The
alarm “Door is closed” is automatically acknowledged and/or ended as soon as the alarm is
acknowledged/ended in the KABA server.

7.7.2 Generating custom alarms

With the current version of the OPC AE client it is only possible to choose the target of the generated
alarms (printer, annunciator, popup, popup buzzer, history and/or system-wide).
The goal of generating custom alarms is to provide an interface to allow the user to choose all
attributes of the generated alarm.
The current interface:

is replaced by this:

DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 16 / 22

DoNr.: D100140639
The event subscription filters (available via the “Filter…” button) remain unchanged:

The new dialogue box enables the selection of all attributes of the alarm:

Notes:
For the Text and Family edit fields it is now possible to choose a combination of the OPC Event
properties. By typing the ‘%’ character a context menu appears with the available event properties,
and once validated the chosen property is enclosed by the‘%’ character (so when the alarm is
generated all the properties enclosed by ‘%’ are replaced by the value of the chosen property of the
released event). For a list of all available properties and their description, see section 5.6.1.1.1 of the
OPC AE 1.1 Specification. The properties are listed below:

wChangeMask, wNewState, szSourceName, ftTime, szMessage, dwEventType, dwEventCategory,

dwSeverity, szConditionName, szSubconditionName, wQuality, bAckRequired, ftActiveTime,
dwCookie, szActorID.

DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 17 / 22

DoNr.: D100140639
The severity field is automatically filled according to the severity of the released event (the
severity range is between 1 and 1000).
The generated alarm is not auto-acknowledged (if an alarm must be auto-acknowledged it
needs to be configured in the KABA server)
The generated alarm is discarded to unduplicated alarms when nPo restarts (as is currently
the case with BACnet).

The following dialogue boxes appear by clicking consecutively on the buttons “Edit groups…”, “Edit
user fields…” and “Action on alarm…”:

DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 18 / 22

DoNr.: D100140639
7.7.3 Acknowledging alarms acknowledgement in nPO
The user is only able to acknowledge an alarm if that alarm has already been acknowledged and
reset on the OPC Kaba server.

7.8 novaPro Open Manager

7.8.1 Minimising to the system tray
To enable a more convenient user interface, it is now possible to minimise the novaPro Open
Manager to the system tray.

By right clicking on the system tray a number of actions are possible.

DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 19 / 22

DoNr.: D100140639
7.8.2 Clean-up and restart function
A new function named Clean Up has been added. It allows you to close all novaPro Open processes
and restart the nPO Manager.

7.8.3 Search and replace function

A search and replace function has been added. This functiona replaces data point names with new
ones in any location where these data points are in use (Images, charts…). As an example, this
function has been enabled for migrations from EY2400 to BACnet. The images can remain as they
are, but the data points displayed in the images were EY2400 and therefore should be replaced with
BACnet data points. To do so, create an Excel spreadsheet with one column containing the old data
points and one column containing the new data points. The old data points will be replaced by the
new ones in the second column on the corresponding line.

Please refer to the novaPro Open Manager manual for how to use this function.
DB-ID: 684658 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 20 / 22
DoNr.: D100140639
7.8.4 Log functions
A new log function has been added to the nPO Manager to help you in support cases.

7.8.5 Restarting BACstac service before starting a project

When you start a novaPro Open project containing a BACnet driver using the Manager, the BACstac
service will first be restarted in order to start the project.

8. Reminder
8.1 FAQ
The FAQ system contains a lot of up to date and useful information about nPO.
Please read it carefully.
