Landforms
Landforms are the natural shapes or features of the earth.
Landforms include mountains, valleys, plateaus, canyons,
plains, and islands.
Mountains

 A mountain is the highest kind of land.


 A mountain has a peak.
Valleys
 A valley is a lowland area between higher mountains
Plains
A plain is a flat area on Earth’s surface.
Canyon
 A canyon is a deep valley with very steep sides.
Plateaus

 A plateau is a flat area higher than the land around it.


Island
 An island is land that is surrounded by water.
Bodies of Water

 Bodies of water are any accumulation of water that cover the


earth.
 Bodies of water include river, lake and ocean.
Lake

 A lake is a body of water surrounded by land.


Ocean

 Oceans are the largest bodies of water on earth.


River

 A river is a long flowing body of water.
