THE CERTIFIED SMART INDUSTRY READINESS INDEX (SIRI)

ASSESSOR PROGRAMME FACT SHEET

1. Smart Industry Readiness Index

1.1. Manufacturing has entered the digital age, arising from the convergence of the
physical and digital worlds. This new paradigm, commonly referred to as
Industry 4.0, has the power to transform how products are created, how supply
chains are managed, and how value chains are defined. For companies around
the world, Industry 4.0 presents an opportunity to gain new competitive
advantages through greater productivity, flexibility, and speed.

1.2. Created by the Singapore Economic Development Board (“EDB”), in

partnership with a network of leading technology companies, consultancy
firms, and industry and academic experts, the Smart Industry Readiness Index
(“SIRI”) comprises a suite of frameworks and tools to help manufacturers –
regardless of their size and industry - start, scale, and sustain their
manufacturing transformation journeys. The SIRI covers the three core
elements of Industry 4.0: Process, Technology, and Organisation.

2. The Certified SIRI Assessor Programme

2.1. The Certified SIRI Assessor Programme was established by the Singapore
Government to formally recognize independent and neutral individuals who are
able to professionally assess a manufacturing facility using SIRI and its
accompanying frameworks and tools. The Official SIRI Assessment includes
the evaluation of a manufacturing facility across the 16 dimensions of
assessment, the identification of recommended areas of priority, and the
provision of a report of the findings.

The Certified SIRI Assessor Programme consists of a training course and

certification scheme.

2.1.1. The SIRI Assessor Training Course will equip industry practitioners with
the requisite industry knowledge and skills to become a Certified SIRI
Assessor (“CSA”). The curriculum covers content on manufacturing,
Industry 4.0, SIRI’s frameworks and tools, business consulting, and the
methodology for conducting an Official SIRI Assessment. Over 40 hours
of classroom training is provided.

2.1.2. The SIRI Assessor Certification Scheme aims to safeguard the integrity
and consistency of the SIRI Assessment conducted by ensuring the
quality and proficiency of the CSA. In addition to having attended the
SIRI Assessor Training Course, candidates will have to meet pre-
requisites, such as having relevant manufacturing and consulting work
experience, to be eligible to sit for the Certified SIRI Assessor
Examination which includes both theory and practical assessments.

5. Award of Certificate

5.1. Applicants that pass the Certified SIRI Assessor Examination will be awarded
the CSA certificate.

5.2. The CSA designation is valid for 2 years, subject to renewal requirement
Please refer to INCIT’s website for the renewal requirement.

5.3. All Certified SIRI Assessors will have to confirm their acceptance of the award
by formally registering themselves via the SIRI Portal. Upon completing their
registration, they will be issued an account to allow them to commence the
provision of Official SIRI Assessments. A nominal fee is charged each time an

ANNEX A
THE CERTIFIED SMART INDUSTRY READINESS INDEX (SIRI)
ASSESSOR PROGRAMME SYLLABUS 2023

1. Syllabus Aims

While the Smart Industry Readiness Index (“SIRI”) was designed for ease of use,
a firm foundation in manufacturing, consulting and Industry 4.0 is necessary in
order to discern the nuances within each of the 16 dimensions of assessment.
This understanding is critical for an accurate evaluation of facilities. As a
significant part of the Official SIRI Assessment (“OSA”) involves interviews
between the Certified SIRI Assessor (“CSA”) and various stakeholders within the
company, it is also important for the CSA to display strong client engagement
skills and to be astute in deciphering responses.

Therefore, the Certified SIRI Assessor programme syllabus was developed to

ensure that all CSAs have the requisite knowledge and skills, beyond a simplistic
understanding of the SIRI framework and tools, to credibly conduct an Official
SIRI Assessment.

The syllabus aims to equip individuals with:

• A fundamental knowledge in Industry 4.0;
• A deep understanding of SIRI, its frameworks and tools; and
• Tangible skills in client engagement and assessment facilitation in order to
effectively conduct an Official SIRI Assessment.
