ABSTRACT

Material handing is an important question in the industry or any warehousing

practices which not only the transport of material to be delivered safely but also the
time of delivery is mattered. As the traditional IC engine or gasoline-based forklifts
are mostly manually driven vehicle which needs more maintenance and also the
skilled labour is required for the driving of the vehicle. Also we humans get tired
easily with this hard job. So we thought what if the vehicle do its job continuously
without a brake and without any driver for vehicle.
In this report we have designed a model which is basically semi-automatic
and is operated via Bluetooth wireless connection. Also the model works on electric
dc supply and hence no toxic fumes are released into the work atmosphere.
In this project we find that such AGV’s can be more cost and time saving for
the concern industry and warehouses.

INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction

The process of loading, unloading and transport of materials is one of the main issues
for every production site and it has a great impact on product cost. The increase in
time productivity and reduction in labour cost we focused in this model. It is
controlled wirelessly with the help of Bluetooth module HC-05 and Arduino
microcontroller. It is powered with electric DC battery which is smooth in working,
low in maintenance and helps to keep surrounding air toxic free which IC engine
powered vehicle do create.

2.5 Problem Statement

The gasoline driven forklifts creates toxic fumes over in the work area and creates an
uncomfortable and also affects to the health of the labour working inside. Also the
gasoline forklifts are high in maintenance. Thus we are using electric forklift due to
its low maintenance characteristics.

2.6 Objectives
The first objective of this project is to create, design and build a forklift that capable
to lift-up and place an object. By using arduino we are going to design a wireless
forklift with the help of bluetooth.

METHODOLOGY

3.1 Introduction
The project is divided into two parts. First is the hardware design and second is the
software design. This project activity must be done step by step in order to achieve it
target.

3.2 Methodology details

Mechanical structure design:- This wireless forklift is built consists of base body,
aluminium fork arm, actuators, wheels. Most of these parts built from raw material
and some are modified to congruent with this project. In other hand most of the
material use will be, wheels, chain sprocket.

Electronic circuit:- Here we are using Arduino UNO as a microcontroller for the
forklift. The Bluetooth module we are using here is HC-05 module because it is to use
and is designed for transparent wireless serial connection setup. It uses the 2.4GHz
frequency band and the transfer rate of the data can vary upto 1mbps and is in range
of 10 meters.

Software programming:-

CHAPTER 5
RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

After the completion of the project we found that the vehicle is good
efficient and balancing well at after the lifting load. The frequency
range is quite adequate but not feasible for long distance controlling
of the vehicle, hence may be wifi module will help complete that lag.
However this is the vehicle which are more efficient cost saving, low
maintenance that any industry would like to have.

CHAPTER 6

CONCLUSION AND FUTURE SCOPE

6.1 Future Scope:-

The safety majors of the vehicle can be improved with the help of
various sensors in the future.

Gps systems can be used to locate and control the vehicle.

Also the reduction in time of the charging of the vehicle can be improved.

Conclusion:-

We came to conclusion that remote controlled forklift is the way to stop such
industrial issues like labor cost, hazardous material handling. Most of all human safety is a
major concern’s by using a remote controlled forklift. We can use our human brain but the
hands and legs of a robot, and thereby nullifying the chances of accident.

Plagiarism
“When you have borrowed words, facts, or idea of any kind from someone else’s
work, acknowledge your debt by giving your source credit in footnote (or in running
text as cited reference). Otherwise, you will be guilty of plagiarism. Also, be sure you
have represented the original material honestly and accurately. Direct word to word
quotations should be enclosed in quotation marks”.
When you use programs written by others with or without modifications, the report
must clearly bring this out with proper references, and must also reflect the extent of
modification introduced by you, if any. A modified program is not entirely yours.
Only a program, which you write from scratch, does not require the source to be
identified. Identification of source in all other cases is a must. Standard subroutines
(even if public domain) used in your programs must be properly referenced. Although
programs need not be appended to the thesis, they must be submitted to your research
supervisor in hard copy and other media. Inclusion of a computational flow chart in
your thesis is highly recommended, however.
