1. <Greet the students and ask about their day>

Narration:
● Hello students! Welcome to Byju's classes. How are you all doing?
<Wait for the students to respond>
<Introduce yourself>
<Introduce features of the platform>
● I hope you all are having a great day and doing well. Please keep your
pen and paper ready to take notes of what we will learn today.
● In this session, we are going to learn about a few of the concepts of
the triangles and its properties chapter.
● Did you go through the pre-read material provided to you?
<Take names of a few students and ask whether they have done it or not>

Connect:
● Before we start with the concepts of today’s session, let’s recall the
concepts that you learned in the earlier session and solve a few
questions from your homework..

2. Tutor points:
<The tutor should make sure to highlight the keywords>

● Classification of triangles can be done into two types. One is based on

sides and the other is based on angles.

Connect:
● Let’s go through the classification of triangles based on sides.

3. Tutor points:

<The tutor should make sure to highlight the keywords>

● If all three sides are unequal it is called as scalene triangle.

● An equilateral triangle is always an acute angled triangle as each angle
in it measures 60°.
● Angles opposite to equal sides of an isosceles triangle are always
equal.

Connect:
● Let’s go through the classification of triangles based on angles.
4. Tutor points:
<The tutor should make sure to highlight the keywords>
● If each angle in a triangle is less than 90°, it is an acute-angled
triangle.
● If any one of the angles of a triangle is 90°, it is a right-angled
triangle.
● If any one of the angles of a triangle is greater than 90°, it is an
obtuse-angled triangle
Connect:
● Let’s recall about Medians and Altitudes.

5. Tutor Points:
● Read and Explain the definitions given on the slide.

Explanation:

Median
● The line segment joining the vertex of a triangle to the midpoint of
its opposite side iscalled a median of the triangle.
● BF, AE, and CD are the medians of △ABC.
● G is the point where all the medians intersect.
ToDo: Highlight and show the medians of the triangle ABC.

Altitude:
● The perpendicular line segment joining the vertex of a triangle to
its opposite side iscalled the altitude of the triangle.
● BE, AD, and CF are the altitudes of △ABC.
● H is the point where all three altitudes intersect.
ToDo: Highlight and show the altitude of the triangle ABC.

11. Tutor points:

<Ask: can you find out the missing angles of this triangle>
Wait for the response.
● ∠ B = 90°, ∠ C = 45°
● To find the missing angles we need to know about the angle sum
property of the triangle.

Connect:
● Let's take help from our master tutor to understandhe angle sum
property of the triangle.

12. Learning nugget duration: 01:49

Key takeaways:
● The sum of angles of a triangle is 180°
Connect:
● Let’s summarise what we have learnt about the angle sum property of
a triangle.
13. <Explain the learning outcome of concepts explained by the master tutor via
this summary slide>
< The tutor must ensure that the students note down these statements while
stating it>

Narration:
<Read, explain and highlight-on the slide>
● Here angles 𝑎, 𝑏, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑐 are the three angles of the triangle.
● After arranging them on a number line it forms a straight angle.
● And the measurement of a straight angle is equal to 180°
● Therefore, the sum of all three interior angles of a triangle is equal to
180°.
<Highlight: ∠𝑎 + ∠𝑏 +∠𝑐 = 180°>

Connect:
● Let’s take help from our master tutor to understand the mathematical
proof of the angle sum property of a triangle.

14. Learning nugget duration: 01:48

Key takeaways:
● Sum of angles of a triangle is 180 degrees.

Connect:
● Let’s summarise what we have learnt from our master tutor..

15. <Explain the learning outcome of concepts explained by the master tutor via
this summary slide>
< The tutor must ensure that the students note down these statements while
stating it>

Narration:
<Read, explain and highlight-on the slide>
We can prove the angle sum property of a triangle by two ways:
● By folding the angles
● By parallel lines and transversal
By folding the angles
● Place a dot on the midpoint of each line.
● Fold the angle as shown in the image.
● Ask the students to visualize the methods using the Gif image.

By parallel lines and transversal

● Here, use the concept of alternate interior to explain the method
● Ask the students to visualize the methods using the Gif image.

● All the three angles form straight angles in both methods.

● And we know the measure of straight angle is 180°.
● So, all the three angles add up to 180°.
<Highlight: ∠ 1 + ∠ 2 +∠ 3 = 180°>
Thus, the sum of all three interior angles of a triangle is equal to 180°.

exterior angle property of a triangle.

33. < The tutor must ensure that the students note down these statements while
stating it>

Narration:
<Read, explain and highlight-on the slide>
In the animation, we can see that the exterior angles of a triangle,
quadrilateral, pentagon, and hexagon sum up to 360°.
In fact the the sum of exterior angles of any polygon or shape is equal to 360°.

Connect:
● This is interesting. Isn’t it?
● Well, let’s see and prove the relation between exterior angle and
interior angles of a triangle.
34. < The tutor must ensure that the students note down these statements while
stating it>

Narration:
<Read, explain and highlight-on the slide>

● An exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of its interior

opposite angles.
Proof:
<Highlight:
In ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶
∠ 𝐵+∠ E=180° [Straight line] ……….(i)
∠ 𝐴+∠ 𝐵+∠ 𝐶=180° ……….(ii)
[Angle sum property of a triangle]

From equations (i) & (ii),

∠ 𝐵+∠ E = ∠ 𝐴 + ∠ 𝐵 + ∠ 𝐶 >

● Cancel ∠ B from both the sides of equality sign.
